The Washington Manual of Outpatient Internal Medicine : Lyons, Maureen, McDonnell, Peter, Schmidt, Jennifer: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: best update textbook for internal and specialist doctors Review: in residency, we all studied a classic Washington manual for inpatient medicine. I had no idea there was one for outpatient medicine. And yes, it's every bit as good as the original inpatient version. Practicing outpatient medicine for over 25 years now. Sitting down and reading this was such a joy. And so interesting to see that so many of the concepts and practices that I have developed over the years have been developed in parallel and numerous other practices, and now are in writing in this manual. Things like "not trying to solve every single problem that a patient brings you at every visit" or "building relationships with all the specialists in your community and identifying the ones that will suit your patients the best." Etc. etc.. Nice going Wash U!
