It's a wonderful product but could use battery installation instructions
I looked over many options offered by Amazon and finally chose a Dorcy rubber encased, battery-operated flashlight. It arrived quickly today and after cutting open the very protective packaging, I took it out and held it. It looked exactly like what I wanted. It wasn't too heavy and the 7.5" length was appreciated after using so many mini-flashlights. It also had an securely attached hang-up or wrist carry cord that I didn't notice in the description but was pleased to see. The rubberized exterior makes it very easy to grasp and offers protection should the light ever be dropped. My only mild complaint is this: there were no instructions for inserting the 3 AA batteries that came with the light. I mention this because, although I personally am somewhat knowledgeable regarding the positioning of battery contact points, I found the battery compartment to be unusually constructed with no indicators as to where and how the 3 batteries must be installed. Also there was no visual aid showing which way to insert the unique battery cage back into the flashlight. As I said, I was surprised at the complexity of fitting the 3 batteries in the holder and then fitting back into light's interior. But I got it done, turned it on, even took it outside and was amazed at how brilliantly it lit up my darkened yard. I was, and continue to be, pleased with this purchase and will sing its praises to friends and family --- although I already know that I will be asked to help them install the batteries.

Excellent outdoor flashlight
It is bit larger than I was expecting but really it is a traditional size for a flashlight. The large focusing mirror does a fine job for keeping the light beam focused over long distances. It is not so useful indoors (too bright and tightly focused), but is great to light up the back fence or up a tree or reveal a suspicious figure down the street. It continues to work even when the batteries are run down. The rubberized covering makes it easy to grip and protects it if dropped or banged into something. I dabbed white paint on the on/off switch so it would be easier to find quickly.

Good solid, bright rig
I like Dorcy flashlights, generally. Many of the old big name brands (Everready, Ray-o-Vac, etc.) have become unreliable. These are pretty dependable, inexpensive, and use regular batteries--you see these "best flashlight" reviews and many are way overpriced and use fancy, hard-to-find batteries or are rechargeable (often dead when you need them). Note the lumens number. With efficient LED technology, you can get very bright flashlights like this one and the batteries still last a long time.

Excellent light, well made, but a little big!
80 lumens is good. It can reach a long distance, very focussed light beam and really handy. Looks very well manufactured and looks like (and they claim) it is waterproof but I haven't tested it for that! It looks like there is only one mode - focussed beam and nothing else. I assumed it will be smaller than what it actually is - it is big! So if you are looking for a compact one that goes in to a packet/purse, this is not the one for you. Overall, it is a great flashlight, handy, performs well. Update: 2/23/2014: It still works great after 3+ years. One gripe I have is the non-slip grip rubber - while it is non-slip all right, seems to be a little bit sticky, so it picks up a lot of dust/grime. Other than that I like it.

GREAT PRODUCT
I don’t quite know what to say other than this flashlight is a great product. The batteries seem to last forever. The rather soft exterior is easy to grip and protective if dropped. The light intensity is great. While I have not yet gotten the light wet - I would bet its construction (exterior covering) will keep the light well protective.

GREAT DURABLE FLASHLIGHT
I wanted a rubberized flashlight with ONLY A ON/ OFF switch, and bright so this is exactly what I was looking for. It feels great in your hand, rubberized grip. and single operation without all that high, low, strobe nonsense that they have on them now days. If I need to use a flashlight I want it bright and no cycling through all the other modes. I am upgrading all my other lights and some are pricey and replacing them with this Dorcy model. I love it and highly recommend it.

This is an okay flashlight.
Like most LED flashlights, this is another wannabe pocket spotlight! Pros - It runs on three AA’s and it works. Cons - Poorly designed battery compartment and this is a BIG flashlight.

Great Value
Excellent light for the money. Soft, grippy rubber cladding feels nice in the hand and covers entire unit. The light is well protected and more importantly, so is anything it may bump into. Bright. Amazon description says 180 lumens in title and 170 in the text. Packaging on unit I received says 250. Whatever. It's plenty bright. My only (small) Disappointment is that the beam spot is narrower than I like. It's a pretty intense hotspot while I prefer a broader, more flood like beam. But that's the case with a lot of lights and at this price point, I'm not complaining.
