Black Paradox (Junji Ito) [Ito, Junji] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Black Paradox (Junji Ito) Review: Great quality! - Great quality! The story is another modern Junji Ito classic. Review: Another Fantastic Entry of Mr. Ito's Work - Black Paradox is among my favorite of Ito's works and this is a beautiful edition of it. The book cover has a nice texture and the glitter treatment of the title on the cover is just beautiful. So far I haven't seen any glitter fallout from it as it seems to be pretty well adhered. The paper inside seems to be of a good stock as well. The story itself is great. It has twists and turns, and is another solid piece of work. I don't want to say too much and spoil it, suffice it to say the story is creepy, gory, and will please fans of his past works. You also get a bonus short work that is only a couple of pages, but is full-color and a nice little snippet one-shot. However, t is worth noting that this does contain suicide as a core plot element, so be aware of that for anyone with sensitivity around that. I look forward to seeing more lovely editions of his work in the future, especially with this value of production quality. Definitely worth picking up if you are a fan of Ito or horror in general. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Horror Master Does It Again
So Junji Ito ... my wife is addicted to his writing and manga ... so when he was at SDCC ... I knew I was in trouble. So we went to his speaking engagement and the man is really brilliant (honestly I had no idea who he was prior to this) ... I felt bad for him because his hands are very badly gnarled because of years of drawing. But no one can take away the horror he inspires with everything he writes and draws. He creates horrors that give nightmares horrors ... the things he writes and draws is amazing and terrifying and beautiful at the same time. The stories are all enthralling and tell tales that will give you nightmares but you will soon realize that even your nightmares pale in comparison to the nightmares he is writing. It's truly awe inspiring to be honest. One day we will lose this horror genre master but for now, I recommend everyone buy his books and be both inspired and terrified.

Doppelgangers all around!
Four strangers make a suicide pact online, when they meet up in person to commit the deed, their lives get turned upside down by their own mirror images. A shadow, a robot, and the person staring back at you in the mirror are all ways to a wondrous land of light - and death. Will these four strangers complete their pact by their own hands or will they turn their lives around but die in the process... Or who knows, they may all live to tell the tale of the black paradox. The entire vibe of this manga felt like a horror movie, and I don't mean just because of the gore, the scares, and the suspense. There's a certain presence in older horror movies, especially from the 90s, that just gives you the creeps and all the feels, that same je ne sais quoi was in Black Paradox. At first, I had no idea what was going on and was a bit confused because some of the elements didn't quite fit in the beginning, but by the end, it made complete utterly terrifying sense. There were a lot of twists and turns, the plot was solid, and while the characters at times were a bit obnoxious, they were definitely engaging. It almost felt like the characters got what they deserved by the end, which I felt was pretty cool as they started off wanting to end their lives. But that's not to say that the ending was... necessarily good for the characters, but it felt satisfying. I can't say much more without spoilers, so I'll just stop here by saying this is probably one of the best stories I read by Junji Ito, and it is absolutely perfection for the spooky season!

Really good, but not truly special.
This is a really good, fun, and enjoyable manga, but it's nothing truly special. That's okay though, not everything has to be a masterpiece to be enjoyable and good. This is enjoyable and good. It's like one of those really good movies you see that may not be like the greatest film ever, but you really enjoy it anyway. It's fun, there are good characters, there is good action, it keeps you turning the pages, and the artwork is of course spectacular. It's not a masterpiece, but it's still a really fun, enjoyable story that is definitely worth a read. The ending is excellent, it may be the high point of the whole book, but overall this is a really fun romp.

AMAZING!!!
Truly another one of Ito’s greatest works! Had me glued to every page. The visual details! The writing! He has done an amazing job portraying what it means when society becomes greedy and exploits resources claiming it’s “for the future of humanity”, only for it to later be the downfall of it.

Note that the book hasn't been mirrored like it is sometimes the case with English translations of these books. I don't bother getting up and checking but I believe Ito's UZUMAKI hardcover also flips right to left but pages are mirrored so you read them left to right (like the AKIRA anniversary edition). It takes a minute getting used to but it's all good. Great book in the well-known style of Junji Ito.
