Love this case! New phone I've had a month! Used with a 9h privacy screen protector (like a shield, not flimsy sticker film stuff) & this case still offers protection on front with the edge of case slightly above the protection screen - My cat knocked off my phone from a high 7 drawer dresser- appx 4+ft landed on laminated wood flooring face down - the protector screen cracked, but saved my phone & this case design helped! -Also just dropped it in the kitchen (tile) the other day fell out of my pocket as i was kneeling & landed on the edge/corner (bounced slightly) & no damage to phone. I've bought 4 other cases; heavy duty pricey ones & wallet styles which i thought were cool & wanted - All which I've returned as they are bulky and/or did not protect the front face of screen...being that the cases were lower than the phone face...even without the shield they were still 'iffy' & I'd never go without a screen shield again. As for the 'Edge screen' ability, it is still accessible...even w/the shield I use (which has slight curve toward edge but doesn't wrap around). It may take an extra swipe versus having No case - Majority of cases will all cover the curve if you're looking for protection, or they'll have lower sides and slightly raised top & bottom (tried that one too)..but a face down fall would not have been protected my phone - and I don't really have any problem accessing my Edge screens. Sleek, Not Bulky...how I wish I was, ha ha.

Poetic quickly became a favorite case manufacturer when my old favorite didn't carry a case for my two newest devices. And you can't really beat the value for the price. My preference for smart phones is full TPU, but I've rather enjoyed this mostly polycarbonate case. I love how thin and light the Galaxy 8 is, and this case does not take away from that. The cutouts and buttons all align well, and the lip protects the curved screen, even if I lay it facedown. The protective TPU around the corners and down the back give it enough traction to stop it from slipping off the arm of the couch if I set it down, though I'd like some more around the sides for added grip...but because that area is the more transparent polycarbonate, the orchid color of the phone itself shows through a bit.For anyone wondering as I did, this is a single piece construction; there's no faceplate. The phone snaps into the case quite securely...though again, as a fan of TPU cases, I'd have preferred more flexibility in the corners for getting it on and off. Having dropped the phone a couple of times, it has survived perfectly. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the Poetic Affinity, and I'll be checking back with Poetic for my next device case.For what it's worth, my other case is a Turtle Skin for a tablet. It's a rubbery case (not TPU) that I thought I wouldn't like, but I absolutely love it. It's much thicker, but its bulk is good for my kids when they're playing games and comfortable for me to read ebooks, and it's offered great protection as well.[UPDATE]: 10 months on, and this case is still doing its job--my phone itself is still undamaged despite abuse. However, the transparent TPU has discolored with use, which looks pretty gross, and it has also begun separating from the polycarbonate. I glued it back down on the back of the case, but it's pulling away near all the cutouts for the speaker, USB port, and buttons as well. Overall still satisfied as it's protected my phone well, but I do wish the material were grippier and less discolored.

I ended up drilling it out (with poor results).Somewhat sloppy fit--Top and bottom edges are not quite uniform, showing varied slivers of aluminum peaking through (not an issue for black models)--Also, when holding the phone in some positions, the phone will shift slightly when pressed, mimicking the feeling of a small vibration (like keyboard feedback). It is extremely annoying.--The plastic on the sides of the case show either stress cracks or air in the molding. Either way, it's a poor aesthetic.--Buttons are tactile, though not textured, but quite stiff. I find it difficult to use them one handed with the case on.Overall, if price is your main concern you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for top-shelf quality I would probably look elsewhere.

I have had 2 of these cases in the past 4 years so far. They last about a year and a half before the rubbery plastic strip on the back peels off and, while still functional, the case just looks ugly and i feel i get tangled in it.I do LOVE the protection factor of this case! It is 5 star in that respect! Hands down, has saved my phone from cracking, as i have dropped it a lot! Not even a scratch, and i dont use a screen protector. I have dropped it from up high, on all kinds of surfaces and it's still intact!The major con, for me, is in the looks department. It's not pretty, and the color choices are dismal. As much as i like other pretty cases, i come back to this one every time because of the protection i know it will offer my phone...

Arrived next dayFeels sturdy and grippy. Very snug fit, a bit hard to take off but not too bad. Easy to put on though.Does add a bit to the width of the phone and doesn't look as nice as some cases, but I'd put this case in the category of being more rugged ones that really protect the phone well, and it's certainly the best looking among those.I bought the clear version and just be aware the sides are a very frosted white shade, not very transparent at all. Not necessarily a bad thing, just be aware.I bought this case because my precious one was so slippery it made my phone hard to use - and this case certainly fixed that

Fits the phone perfectly with a nice premium look and feel to it. The case is nice and slim but still offers great protection. The only downside is the clear back is prone to finger prints and smudges.

This case lasted and kept my S8 protected but the power button did start to feel like it was coming off after a long period of time.
