This book is beyond useful! I'm acing my class, and I plan on holding onto it for graduate school. There is a lot of information included in each chapter, but it isn't overwhelming. Tests for certain organisms are highlighted in their own sections. Somehow the authors managed to include nothing but helpful facts. No pointless fillers. No digging through a 50 page paragraph for one key topic. The organization is flawless. If your professor is using a different textbook, you should consider purchasing this boo as a supplemental read.

This is a great book for any microbiologist. I wish I had purchased it instead of just renting it.

It is really the only comprehensive and up to date Microbiology text applicable for clinical microbiology at this time. Very useful.

Excellent text for the novice and experienced microbiologist. A classic since its inception. An invaluable asset to the clinical microbiology laboratory.

Well, it's a textbook. I'm never happy about buying text books. However, this one has a good amount of information in it, and the only complaint really is that the covering (the inked part covering the binding) is peeling off. And it's happening to every book my classmates have too. So just a heads up on these, if your renting - you might want to tape the edges of the spine to prevent ripping that you might get charged for.

Lacks the in depth coverage of mycology, Mycobacterium, parasitology and virology. Mostly about the run of the mill bacteria and how to ID them.

Great for Lab personnel and students alike. Excellent reference book for up to date methods and microbes. Worth the money.

Bought this for FRCPath part 1 revision and am finding it very useful. Covers a lot of the things other text books leave out.
