It doesn't say where built on the product, but I have never seen any metal tool or apparatus come from China with such quality. Chinese tend to use a lesser quality of metal in their products.

Q: Are the screws already on this removable?

No, the stud screws are not removable, nor would you want to remove them. This is a quality item with 3 holes included for mounting. I mounted mine to the inside of my shop door and used 1/2 inch spacers to create a space between the unit and the door. With tax and shipping I paid $105. I would buy it again.

It is a high quality built product of steel and bolts. Very heavy for its size.
