Nice silk swab. Very long pull cord.
This is a nice sized silk swab. It is thin material so it doesn't bunch up and get caught in the octave vent at the top of my tenor. And the pull cord is long.

Excellent!
I've run half a dozen Hodge swabs through as many horns, several thousand times over the past few years and have nothing negative to say about them. The silk square is large enough to fill your horn and wipe each pad thoroughly, the rope is very long and won't get "lost" or force you to jostle your saxophone to get it to drop out, and the weight is dense and covered in rubbery coating to protect the interior of your horn.Be careful as you pull this through the neck of your horn for the first few uses because the material isn't quite as malleable as it will be after consistent use. My first one got stuck in the neck of my tenor. As long as you're careful, this won't be a problem.

Hodge silk swabs are good products.
This is a nice quality silk swab with a plastic weight. I did wrap a little Teflon plumber's tape around the metal where the cord attaches to the weight to prevent any scratching of the Sax's interior. I ordered mine from Dillon Music, and it was shipped and arrived very quickly (several days ahead of the "estimated arrival" date).

Great!
I actually have an alto, but bought this one by mistake. I came back and saw that it was built the same, just with a longer cord and more weight, so opened it up and used it after playing. I really like it! It cleans well and looks nice! I like that the weight is small enough to fit through my mouthpiece, so I can use this on my mouthpiece as well and it gets into the edges better than my other cloth. I'm not sure how to clean it though - I just hand washed it.

The only thing that I didn't like was that little weight at the end of the ...
I purchased this swab two years ago, and I am using it until now. I have washed it sometimes, and this swab continues to work very well. The only thing that I didn't like was that little weight at the end of the string, once for a few times the little ball had became stuck in a hole of the valve. Then after thinking about this problem, I changed this little weight for a piece of 11 inches length of "bead-chain", that we use in our ceiling fan, and this is made with brass and don't damage inside of my tenor sax. With that I didn't have anymore problems using this silk swab; no more stuck and the "bead-chain" run very well inside the horn. The silk is a good as absorbent, and left my sax OK without wet.I have using also others swab, as a tenor sax pad-saver for a best cleansing of my sax.Harry NBritish Columbia, Canada

Good value and works well for any sax
We ordered this based on my son's need for something to clean his alto sax. The cotton one we had from the rental store was not sliding through the sax. We ordered this tenor swab even though we knew it would be too big but my son folded it so that it goes through all the way. He has to stuff it in his case though since it's too big to fit in any of the slots.

Cord Becomes Tangled and Ineffective at Wicking Moisture
The thin cord easily becomes tangled within itself and forms knots. It works okay for wicking away moisture from the saxophone body, but needs at least two pull-throughs to absorb most of the moisture. It's saving grace is that it's quick drying.

Good product. DONT SEND THROUGH NECK!
Works well. Don’t send it through the neck of your sax. Mine got stuck in my neck and I had to use all my power to jam a screwdriver in before I finally got it dislodged. It seemed to pass fine through my neck previously, but it was really tough getting it out. Take off your neck before using!
