If you use whole wheat flour for your scones, then you will love the flavor of this flour. I haven't used it for that, but willing to try with any recipe.

What is the shelf life of this flour and how can it be stored long term?

I used it like regular flour. Mainly for pancakes and cookies. I don't know of any special long term storage tips. Sorry. Don

Is this flour comparable to Bread flour?

This is a whole wheat flour, where most commercial bread flour is not. Having said that, this flour makes some of the best french style bread I have ever made. I do let it rise a bit longer.
