Q: Why does it start beeping and stops pumping after a few seconds?

This had nothing to do with the hose nozzle coming to contact with the liquid. I tested that by filling a bucket full of water and turning on the pump with the hose not touching anything and it still just beeped. Here is a solution that has worked for me after my pump quit working and only beeped. It involves some work, but it was very easily done. I have encountered the same problem with the sensor as in other reviews. If you are buying this because of the alarm sensor, I would not recommend it. I use it only for pumping gas to my vehicles from 5 gal cans. You have nothing to lose by trying the following, because if you are reading this your pump is probably already not working. After less than 5 uses the alarm continually beeped when I turned the unit on and did not pump. Following the advice of another reviewer, I took the unit apart (the black and gray hose clamps at top and bottom are not glued and can be easily pried loose to remove the hose) and cut off the wires at the top opening, leaving about 1-2 inches exposed. I then removed the insulation from the 3 colored wires, twisted them together and tested the motor, which then worked. I then covered the twisted wires with epoxy glue to keep them together. I took it to the garage and pumped 10 gallons of gas with no problem. I watch my gas guage so I do not overfill. I never trusted the sensor anyway. Remove the batteries from the pump when not in use, or you will eventually ruin the electrical if the batteries leak, which happened to me on my previous pump.

Terapump.net: Run water through the pump after using it with any other liquid. This will rinse the interior and extend the life of the pump.

The TRHD03 can transfer 9 liters per minute.

I believe so. However the viscosity of the fluid may be prohibitive. Also, pumping your oil based stain may become next to impossible to clean out of the pump for any future use.
