Well made, beautiful functional fast boiling kettle. a winner
I have a tea pot and tea kettle collection, each one taking an important place, some more for aesthetics and others for function...in the end combining both is great. This falls into this category, beauty and function. The cover for the handle is the perfect protection, functionally efficient in keeping hands cool on the hot metal. The shape is lovely and the metal very sturdy, sure to last a long time. It holds enough water to fill my thermos along with my large mug so it certainly will be welcome for serving guests tea. Highly recommend....very worth the price.

Gets hot and whistles
This is a great kettle. I know because I literally tried ten different kettles before I found this one. It shouldn't be hard to find a kettle that doesn't suck, but it is. This one is not perfect, but it's close. It satisfies my five basic requirements: - Red - Whistle - Handle is not awkward to hold - Whistle toggles on and off - Inside won't rust It has some nice features. The whistle sounds good. It's not terribly loud, which could be good or bad depending on your use case. It has a little silicone sleeve over the thumb lever so it doesn't burn your finger when you flick it open. The handle is comfortable and well designed. The angle is good for the whole arc of the pour, from a gentle start all the way to the last drop without the steam hitting your hand. The handle stays cool to the touch. There's nothing overtly wrong, but there are a couple of questionable things: - The bottom of the kettle bulges out, so it only sits on the middle circle. The burner on my stove that I use for the kettle is the right size, so this doesn't bother me, but if you were counting on using a larger electric burner for faster heating this could be an issue. - The inside has an odd design where there's a little gap where the bottom meets the sides that goes all the way around. It doesn't look like a defect, it's just the way it is. Obviously water doesn't leak out and the bottom is solid, so it must meet the sides somewhere, but it's out of view. This means that a little bit of water will always be sitting in that crevasse, just out of view. You're not supposed to put anything other than water in the kettle, but if you ever did you would never be able to completely clean it out. It's probably fine but it bothers me. Just a little. - The whistle is not terribly loud. It's loud enough for me, but if you want a loud whistle this isn't it. All my gripes are minor, and so far it has been an excellent kettle. I can't speak to longterm durability; my last two (Kitchenaid) kettles died from rust. I'm writing in April 2022 and I promise I'll come back and change this to one star if it rusts inside. If you still see 5 stars then it hasn't rusted yet.

Very, VERY nice tea kettle!
I had purchased another (popular brand) kettle on Amazon and after using it for several months the handle melted. No, it hadn't boiled dry and was never left unattended. It just wasn't made for a stove with high BTUs. So, disappointment in hand, I went back on the hunt for a good, sturdy, red teapot that was also beautiful, and I found this one. At first, I balked at the price. It's not inexpensive but it's also not the most expensive. After a few days of justifying, in my mind, the added expense for quality (That IS what we expect from Viking/Wolf products, isn't it?) I hit the buy it now button and crossed my fingers. I opened the box on arrival, all excited and was looking at all of its shiny goodness and there it was... A wee little chip in the red enamel. Dang it anyway! I boxed it back up, sent it back for a replacement and in just a few days I had my perfect little red tea kettle. And it is just that, perfect. It's just... Pretty! It has a nice weight, beautifully balanced in the hand when pouring, well built and sturdy and has one heck of a good, shrill whistle on it too. You can hear it in the video. (the kettle had two quarts of water in it) The height and angle of the spout is positioned in such a way that the steam rises away from the hand (see image) unlike the other brand I'd had before. It bit me a few times. Yes, you'll need a hot pad to handle it, but if you think about it, that's no big deal. At least the handle isn't going to melt or rot away like the soft grip handles do. Yes, I absolutely recommend this kettle. The product and Viking/Wolf customer service are definitely worth the cost. One note, to the folks at Viking: Secure the lid in the box. It just bounces around in there, a little bubble wrap pouch could save a load of returns.

A nice kettle but not nice enough for the money
I am a tea lover and a pour over coffee drinker so I use my tea kettle ALOT and needed a quality kettle that wouldn’t cost nearly as much as my monthly mortgage. I have been using this kettle for about a week and overall it’s great. I love the placement and design of the handle! The glass lid secures and comes off with ease. It pours nicely, such that I can even make pour over coffee without water spilling!! It looks great and functions well. My only negative critique is value for the money spent. It is a light kettle and not as sturdy as I thought it would be for the brand and price. It feels a bit cheap. Definitely not a “viking” sturdy kettle but overall it is designed well and looks great. I am only disappointed with the quality for being a Viking brand product and costing nearly 100.00 it doesn’t quite hit the mark.

Solid and good quality so far
I was looking to replace my 5 yrs old goose neck one, lite weight and induction. It got rusty after 5 yrs daily use, most of the choices same characteristics, same issues on the reviews. So I did read a lot before doing this purchase because it’s a totally different product. Very reliable brand, high quality materials, heavy and solid, do not have unions in the inside, little heavy but not big deal. This pot in induction is faster for boiling and gets real high temperature in less time! The handle does not get hot which was my concern! Besides the retro design and color, I’m Happy with this replace!

Viking Tea Kettle for the win!
I decided I wanted a tea kettle because I've been drinking lots of tea while working from home. I like Viking cookware and have a few pieces and use regularly so was drawn to this one, in red. It took me weeks to decide because there were a few negative reviews that made me hesitate. I'm glad I decided to just order it already, because it's really great. It came very well packaged so I don't know how people are seeing chips on theirs. It's a rugged, tough painted surface. Fit and finish could not be better. I don't see any issues inside or out and I've used this daily for three months now, usually several times per day. It pours really well with no spilling at all which somehow some reviewers have experienced. The inside remains spotless with it's nice stainless steel makeup. People have reported the handle gets too hot but I disagree, it gets warm for sure but doesn't anything when left on a hot stove burner? I have no trouble grabbing it with my bare hand but if it was too hot, there's always a dish towel nearby to use but I've never needed to. The spout cap / whistle fit is tight and wow does it sound off as the attached video will show. I like the silicone cover on the lid lever, you can open it with your bare finger without getting burnt. For me, the most impressive thing for is just how fast water warms up. I use mine on a gas range. I always have a lot more than one cup of water in it, and it heats as fast or faster than a microwave can. Overall, this is a great product. If you're looking for the best tea kettle out there, I'd encourage you to buy this one.

My favorite teapot, so glad to find this!
This teakettle looks like the day it came - shiny and beautiful. It works just as promised - holds up to medium heat without stains on the bottom. You can see the bottom - which is a benefit. I've had colored enamel over metal teakettles in the past which were pretty but the black inside enamel could never really see what was going on with water mineral buildup, etc. This one is gorgeous inside and out and on the bottom too. It is sturdy. The handle is sturdy and does not get hot for me where it is held. I was worried it would be too heavy for me, as I wanted a kettle that could boil at least 8 cups of water at a time for my iced tea routine. But it is not too heavy. Just take care as you would with any amount of boiling water. The lid comes off just fine but it also stays on just fine, so you don't have to worry about it falling off while you're pouring hot water. The whistle part is working really well and seems it will continue to be sturdy also. It does whistle, but after the water is hot and really boiling. You can see inside the clear glass lid when it is starting to get hot, and you can see steam come out of the spout if you briefly open the whistle top. So, you don't have to wait for a whistle to tell you it is hot enough for your coffee and tea. It also stays hot a long while after you've heated up the water, so if you want to boil your water for coffee before you need to use that burner for your other cooking, the teakettle will keep the water hot til you want it a little later. Viking lives up to its great reputation.

Beautiful and functional but the Handle gets HOT
We love the kettle--how it looks, its size, how well water boils in it, etc., but the one downside is how hot the handle gets. We don't understand how others reviewing the kettle are saying the handle doesn't get hot. We must use a hot pad every time we use it because the handle is just TOO hot to touch.
