Unlike many other holders where the middle is slanted upwards for a label roll, this one sits flat so it looks neat on the desk and it works well with the 500 fanfold labels they also sell in the store. Installation is quite straightforward as it's just snapping a few pieces of plastic together. As the other reviewer has mentioned, you technically do not need a holder for fanfold labels as the printer just simply pulls them right in. That said, it might be useful if you are placing the labels on a rather linty surface where lint can get on the labels themselves and cause streaks to appear on the labels. With a holder in place, you can cover the holder to printer connection with a cloth so lint does not fall onto the labels themselves. Works well for me in this case, although your use case may be different.

I was initially reluctant to purchase this inkless thermal printer due to the relatively low ratings and the high frequency of return. However, those ratings and returns appear to be for the other traditional printer associated with this listing. Most of the reviews for the inkless printer have been favorable. The seller might want to consider separating them into separate listings. That being said, I love the functionality and the aesthetic of the wood accent of the thermal printer. I prefer this thermal printer over the smaller cordless thermal printers that require you to manually feed the paper into the printer everytime you need to print. This printer is not as small as the portable models, but it is still quite a bit smaller and more light weight than a traditional printer. I appreciate that I don’t have to manually feed paper to this printer anytime I want to print. This printer also automatically cuts the paper, unlike the portable options where you have to manually rip the paper from the machine. A roll of thermal printing paper comes pre-loaded in the machine. I haven’t had to replace a roll yet but I’ve experimented with removing it and it’s very easy to replace. It’s great not having to worry about ink cartridges running out or drying up, or dealing with predatory practices that are associated with other printer manufacturers. Pairing the printer to my phone was a breeze. Printing is done through the app. As much as I love this printer, there are few cons, but not enough to detract from my 5 star rating. Cons: thermal paper is more expensive and a slightly different texture than traditional paper, since the paper comes pre-loaded on rolls, the paper is not completely flat, thermal printers only print in black and white, all printing must be completed through the app, might not be the best option for high volume printing. The pros outweigh the cons for my specific needs. Pros: no ink smudging and can highlight immediately, very quick printing, no ink cartridges to worry about loading or running out, light weight and compact, paper comes pre-loaded on rolls unlike with other smaller portable printers, minimal set up required, overall less hassle compared to traditional printers, automatic paper cutting, aesthetically pleasing, portable.

I purchased this iDPRT Label Holder as it helps tidy up and save space as well as ensures that fanfold labels feed straight every time. I have not tried it yet with roll labels, but plan on purchasing those next as it seems that I will be able to move the thermal printer even closer to the holder. A bit pricey for what you get, but a worthwhile purchase nonetheless.
