Muji Handy Shredder, Off-White, Small

Very handy and good for minimal shredding. Also looks good enough to be placed on the office desk. It’s just a little pricey for the size but I hope it will hold up for a long time.

Absolutely perfect for my needs. I simply needed a shredder for things like receipts and daily mail (e.g., credit offers, statements, etc.). I didn’t want something bulky that I had to drag out and plug in every time I wanted to shred something. I also didn’t want anything with batteries. This is perfect! Doesn’t take up any more space than a pair of scissors, and gets the job done quickly and efficiently. Seems well made and sturdy. Hoping it lasts for many years.

I am a devoted customer of Muji. Almost by policy, if I need a something, I don't have it, and Muji makes it, that's the one I'm going to get. Well, I do receive a few documents which I'd just as soon no one else see, but I've hesitated on this purchase since I first saw it in the Shibuya Muji branch: it's small. I don't like the idea of having an electrical device which makes unpleasant noises, just to dispose of a few pieces of paper a month. But would it work? It does! It's quite satisfying in action, at that. But realize: the instructions say two sheets, what they mean is, one sheet folded in half. Or an envelope. But definitely not an envelope with a sheet of paper triple-folded inside it. Wrong bias to cut on anyway. That said, it's silent, it has the calm aesthetic which Muji is known for, it makes short work of a piece of paper, and then it goes in a drawer. No cords, no buzzsaw, just nice even shreds of paper dropping into the identically-colored wastebasket which, yes, is also Muji. One star off: the sticker leaves behind an unpleasant residue which has to be scraped off. One of the things I value about the company is that, somehow, they seem to have mastered the art of stickers which come cleanly off that onto which they are stuck. One of many small things about Muji: things which any company could do, but Muji cares and they don't. Well, this one didn't peel off clean. So it goes. A bit of scrubbing takes care of it, and it takes its place next to the Muji stapler and Muji left-handed scissors, in an acrylic Muji office organizing drawer set. I really am fond of this company's wares, to a perhaps unreasonable degree.

... but that's to be expected for such an affordable, portable shredder. You either have to fold your sheets perfectly in half, or tear them in 3rds, long way (hot dog-style), and then it can shred any standard paper, one sheet at a time (max 2 but paper may cram along one edge so I find it best to not press it). It's more tedious to do a crosscut, but it's possible if you pre-tear the sheets accordingly, and then stop shredding just short of one side so you can rotate and shred along the remaining spine. This made for an excellent gift for one of my friends.

This little shredder does what it is designed to do which is to shred a few sheet of paper before tossing when you are away from a normal shredder. My tests show it shredding one 1/2 sheet of paper very well. It does two thin pieces together as well. It is not meant to accomplish the task that your office shredder does at all. It is not a substitute for a normal shredder unless all you need is to shred the occasional receipt. I needed it for travel as I am in need of shredding occasional papers during my trips instead of bringing them back with me to the office. It is small and light and will travel well, I expect.

Love the analog feel of this shredder. By no means is it a replacement for an electric one, though to shred up a few papers or receipts, it’s a pleasant experience.

Pretty hard to insert paper while manually feeding it through shredder. It works for letters and one or two pieces of paper so would not recommend for people trying to shred a lot of documents

If you have a small space, its worth it. You can't use it for multiple papers or thick credit cards but very functional and baby proof (mother of a 1 year old)

Admittedly, it's only a small hand-held paper shredder for light duty shredding, and even though I don't use this every day, it's really handy to have on my desk to shred junk mail, or legitimate mail which is no longer required. Obviously there is no cross-cut feature, so I wouldn't use this to dispose of anything highly confidential, but for the job it was designed for, it is superbly built. It's sturdy, the turn mechanism feels good and turns easily and the blades give a clean cut with no snagging or choking up. This little device does exactly what it's supposed to do. Highly recommended!

Un petit accessoire qui ne prend pas de place mais qui fait le job, mais feuille à feuille. On peut plier une feuille A4 en deux dans la longueur pour la passer facilement mais pas plus. Attention à ce que la feuille soit bien droite, sinon elle peut se tordre et bloquer le mécanisme. Si on a bcp de feuilles à déchiqueter, ça peut prendre du temps et être fatiguant vu que c'est manuel, mais sinon c'est un petit objet bien pratique.

This little machine shreds one A4 sheet at a time, provided its folded into two the right way. If, like me, you get most important communications by email, you probably will have very little to shred, and this solves the problem for a very little price. Its certainly easier to use than the manual ones! You just have to make sure you shred over a wastepaper basket. The only thing I can think of that some people might object to is the fact it only does one sheet of paper at a time. This is well set out in the description, so there should be no expectation that its going to perform like an electric shredder, let alone a manual one where you turn a handle and it comes with its own bin to catch the shredded paper. This does what its supposed to to, so don't get your hair, tie or scarf caught in it!

This shredder works great, but I would only recommend it if you have small quantities of paper to shred. It is quite small and fits well in my drawers. It can only shred two paper layers at a time and the feeding area is quite small, so it fits only 1 A4 paper folded in half at once. If you need something small that will get the job done, I would definitely recommend it!
