This has a great action on the reel, the larger handle makes it easy to use for a longer session. NOTE: It does require a larger reel seat as you typically find in sea rods. I paired it with a Penn Wrath 10ft 20-80g spinning rod. It's quickly becoming a favourite, paired with braid and a 60g lure it's got reach and precision with each cast.

Great reel

Was a bit apprehensive about spending alot on a reel but after constantly buying cheap reels I decided to spend the extra for a branded product and it hasn't disappointed. Great quality, will last for years aslong as its washed down after fishing. I use mine with 15lb braided line for sea fishing, it can take higher weight line but I wouldn't go past 20lb line otherwise you won't be able to cast very far.

I have owned the 3000 version for a couple of years now . Its a very solid reel for the money , I liked the reel so much i decided to buy the next size up . Top reels for the money . ive landed fish 10lb+ on the 3000 and it handled it no problem . The drag is one of the best I've used in a fixed spool reel . Quality kit for a daft cheap price . 10/10

Bought this reel from Amazon July last year, not even a year old. Never had a fish on the line with it and never over stressed. Was spinning with it over the weekend and the spool went all wobbly. I stripped the reel down and found the pinion gear had sheared. Cant find parts local so reel is now useless. Not impressed. I have the 8000 model as well so really worried abouut that one ending up the same. Not really what one would expect from PENN. You tube has a few videos where the same has happened to other reel.
