It tastes very much like regular salt, it's KCl instead of NaCl. I put it on food all the time.

does it contain potassium?

Yes it contains potassium. The primary reason I use salt substitute is becaue it contains potassium instead of sodium to help control blood pressure.

Does this product contain iodide?

No. Seems that most people don't actually need iodide these days, but no. Morton's Lite Salt, however, is half NaCl, half KCl, and is iodized. I bought the Salt Substitute and just mixed it 1:1 with Morton iodized salt, so done.
