I enjoy monster cable in all honesty. There's been a lot of debate the last while over whether or not they are overpriced. Well, not really. I use a lot of cables, it's safe to say that I'm a power user. I don't expect these cables to deliver better sound quality. I mainly buy them because of the build construction and the shielding. Alot of the other optical cables you will find will be paper thin because they have a tendency to just be the optic with a thin coat of paint over it. Optical cables are prone to issues when light interferes due to either bad shielding letting light in or a knick in the paint. These cables bypass that with extensive shielding which when you are using them for working on things, makes all the difference. Yes these cables are not for everyday users. The construction quality is quite nice. They have extended shielding and metal connectors giving them a great amount of durability. They are made to be used extensively. The polished fiber cable is nice as well, it gives sound a very subtle but noticable difference in staging and it's nice. Is it revolutionary? No, not really. But it makes smaller details pop resulting in a fuller experience. When I buy these cables it's mainly for the peace of mind that comes with knowing that somethings built well and comes with a great warranty. If something goes wrong. They have your back. They are just great cables all around.
