Teacher's Disagrees
As a 2nd grade teacher, my sister-in-law asked me to find some resources to help her teach my nephew (6yo) English as they live in a foreign country and and he won't learn to read it in school. I was happy to help and got a few opinions including this book. It does have nice page layouts and good graphics. The instructions are age appropriate. BUT as an experienced elementary teacher I disagree with their grade level rating. This book is not organized for first grade content. (Yes, a first grader could do it, many kids are bright and therefore I have no problem with their age range suggestion). However, the book assumes the students will immediately be able to read long vowel sounds despite that being a skill taught during/well into first grade in most curriculums. Is not organized to build this skill but sporadically throws it in. I understand this will not be a problem for many but I think it's important for people to be aware of it so they can decide. This book seems to be targeted for students in second and third who are reviewing skills they have already learned. It is possible I will still send this book to my nephew but if I do, I would give my sister-in-law my list of the order of pages to go in so that it can build the skills up. And boy would they have to dance around.

So Many Pages, Easy to Use All Year
I've really enjoyed using this spelling book for our homeschool. Instead of rushing through it, I split the whole thing up to last us throughout the entire year, and it has worked out perfectly. I love that there are plenty of pages and activities to keep my child engaged without me having to scramble for extra resources. Every page feels useful, which is rare because a lot of workbooks have fluff I end up skipping. It's also really easy to pair with other lessons we're doing, so I can pull in extra practice whenever we need it. Definitely worth it if you're looking for something affordable that actually stretches across the school year.

My son loves this activity book and the Great Longo
I got this book when my son was 3 years old, but started working on it on a regular basis a couple months ago when he turned 4. This is one of the most favorite workbook of my son. The difficulty level is very easy for him, and encouraging with 'Great Longo' on the move. He does around 10 pages everyday, which is great. There are a lot of practice pages in this book (which I love), and not a single page is overwhelming for my son (which he loves). He loves the riddles and the word puzzles, and talks about the Great Longo. I would highly recommend this book for the beginner level of spelling and phonics. A great addition to the homeschooling workbooks! And yes, it is well organized as well.

Nice activities!!
Nice activity book. My son is a bit special becuase he is a learning sponge. He is 4 and a half and he knows additinmon, subtraction and he knows how read and spell in english and spanish. I know many will say this is grate but is also a big challenge when it comes to keep then intrest. Now that there is no preschool he has been asking for school activities but most pre-school books are way to basic for his level. These book is very good!!! The level is for a 1st grade and it has lost of spelling activities. We also both the addition/subtraction of the same brand and he is loving then. We also bought the spanish 1st grade activity book form Carson Dellosa and he is living that one too. So very satisfy!!!
