I love this umbrella base! I actually bought two because we have a large deck and need two umbrellas. Both stands are placed under our tables, and they work perfectly. We were really happy with the price and quality. It was easy to fill with water, and it feels sturdy. Our deck is high up and gets a lot of wind, but so far, the bases have held up great. I’m honestly surprised this is a frequently returned item we absolutely love it! I wouldn’t have ordered a second one if the first hadn’t impressed me. Highly recommend!

So I bought a new beach umbrella for a relatively new front patio. We live in AZ so shade is a must much of the year. And with the umbrella I needed a stand, and I was not thrilled with the cost of most solid metal stands, especially since their weights were generally too light to guarantee that they wouldn't blow over (the reviews made it clear that that was a problem). So I got this stand with it's promise to weigh 50 lbs when filled with water or sand. First time out I filled it with water and, whooosh, the wind blew it over onto my guests -- so I weighed it down with a couple of bags of mortar to keep it upright. Later I emptied the water (let me tell you, there's no easy way to do that) and filled it with sand. It clearly weighs more with the sand (duh!) and can withstand a significant blow without tipping (or bags of mortar). Now the challenge is moving it from place to place -- it's so freakin' heavy!

Product not great but hear me out!! -- Awesome company customer service! This product has a very wobbly base, not sure if we got a defective one that wasn't supposed to make it past quality control but our 7 ft umbrella tipped over in a mild summer wind. The base was 50+ lbs from stuffing in gravel. It was a TOTAL pain getting the gravel in the small opening and We were so bummed that the base wobbles after it was set up. It is made of plastic so it can warp in sun or during shipping. Our umbrella tipped over on the 3rd use. This was 2 months AFTER we purchased it (so our refund policy with Amazon timed out). I didn't expect to get any resolution but we contacted Best Choice Products anyways. To my surprise, even though it was well after the return window, they still offered to ship a new product or a full refund. I didn't have to hound them and I did not feel blamed. They were understanding and very quick to respond. I am SO happily surprised!! So I don't recommend buying THIS base, but the company has MUCH better quality other umbrella bases for free-standing umbrellas on their business web site. For our next umbrella base my husband and I fell in love with their "Portable Steel Umbrella Base Stand Up to 150 lbs w/ Fillable Planter" -- it's made of STEEL, not plastic like their cheaper bases. You do get what you paid for so don't cheapen on a cheap base! It's important!! I do NOT recommend the product but I HIGHLY recommend the company to do business with.

As a base for an outdoor umbrella it works fine. The biggest issue I have with it is the location of the "plug" for draining. I filled mine with water so I could empty it each Fall and bring indoors but you just can't get all the water out due to the plug location This will be my 2nd year using it and having brought it inside over the winter it has held up fine. There are no cracks or warping. Hopefully it will last a few years and I will just have to suck it up every year when I have to drain it knowing it will be a big pain in the butt.

I needed a short 15” stem or less. This model has 11”. Easy to fill with water.
