how id this look in a 55 gallon Tank. is it to large or small?

I'm not totally sure, plus it depends on your idea of large or small, but I have it in a 34 bow front and it looks nice in that. It might be a little small for a 55 if that's all you were to have in it.

Would it fit in a 3.5 gallon tank?

Not sure about your tank dimensions, this ship is in 2 pieces, the larger end is roughly 8-9", the smaller price is roughly 4-5"

Can I put this in a saltwater tank?

I'm not sure about Salt Water, my tank is not for saltwater fish. You may want to email the company that sells this, but it does look great in my tank.
