My guinea pig pudding had very complicated bladder condition, with 3 stones. He was going through surgery and we had to assist feed him every 3-5 hours. He normally would not want to eat and would drop his head down or jerk away with Emeraid Sustain. We also saw wheat in there. I did some research and found this, and I specifically wanted to see if it had wheat—and it didn’t! First night when I mixed in the appetite booster, he chomped on it like he never saw food before. He ate a good 2 packet and since then we’ve been feeding him Sherwood. I’d like to say THANK YOU for developing this food. You quite literally saved my piggie’s life. He was needing to gain some weight before the surgery and he really recovered with this food. I’m so glad I found this. 10/10 the best guinea pig food out there. I can’t believe they only got this many reviews. Every piggie parent who has piggie kids with bladder stone issues should prepare this. It’s 1000% worth the money. Value is great. It comes in small packets, smells fresh, and it’s very fresh looking. Review: Life Saver....Must have for emergency - This has literally save my piggy's life. You never know when one will get sick and it's late at night or a weekend (no vet) so always essential to have in the home. Oxbow Critical Care is good too but piggies are finicky with the flavor, but not with Sherwood. Piggy LOVED and was able to get nutrients and it kept his poop normal. Also great to give when piggy is on antibiotics. Give prior to med to avoid diarrhea. Individually package which is so smart. I was on the fence at first, but not anymore. Better than Critical Care. If piggy does not like the thickness I watered it down to feed via syringe but depends on the piggy.

Life Saver....Must have for emergency

Saved my guinea pigs’ lives multiple times!
This product is incredible. I started using it because Oxbow was having product shortages, and I couldn’t acquire critical care at an affordable price. It isn’t quite as fine as the critical care, and it also lacks that fake fruity/fennel scent that either oxbow flavor came with. I count this as a plus as I prefer to add flavor myself via baby food/fruit or veggie purée, depending on the GI health of the piggy I am treating. I use this both as supplement when my piggies weights are dipping and as emergency treatment when piggies won’t eat. I didn’t notice the difference between this and Oxbow until one of my guinea pigs got sick. Several of them are older, around 5-6 yrs old, and one got bloat from discomfort related to an early developing URI and overnight became so inflated and uncomfortable that we had to rush her to the emergency vet where they found her body was beginning to shut down, with her body temp dipping significantly. They had suggested the possibility of putting her down due to her discomfort, but together we decided to try hospitalizing her and seeing if motility drugs and IV fluids would help. I gave them this product to use there and they gave her 15 ml every 6 hours. The difference after 24 hrs of this product was INCREDIBLE. I visited her at the emergency lap and held her in my lap, and I was laughing and crying at the same time because she was just doing massive farts on my lap and I was just so relieved. She was much more comfortable and much more like herself, and went on to make a full recovery! I have many guinea pigs and have had many of them since they were babies, and I know how difficult bloat can be. In my experience recovery with critical care always took DAYS, seeing some results after 2-3 days with significant improvement only after 4-5 days. I’ve had several instances of emergency syringe-feeding sick, bloated guinea pigs since then and this stuff reduces their bloat in 1-2 days to the point where they want to eat on their own. It’s incredible! They also seem to like the taste of it more than critical care, as the banana flavor was very hit or miss. I’m so happy to have an option for emergency feed that isn’t full of soy and molasses and wheat and other things that prolong the process of bloat recovery.

Helped my piggie get back to health
I love this kit and have had to use it and it helped put weight back on her. She also ate it willingly which I was so happy about. Will definitively get more to keep on hand for emergencies. I like how they are in individual packets so there is less waste and easy to keep it on hand.
