Fast, Powerful, Versatile
*****Bag Storage & Cutter leaves a nice straight and clean cut. Easy to use*****Canister, I am able to use the hose and cover that fits wide mouth jars that I have from my Food Saver to vacuum canning jars. Does a great job and fast.*****Pulse Vacuum is great for softer foods that you don't want to crush. Really works.*****Marinate: Works with FoodSaver 2129973 Preserve & Marinate 10 Cup Vacuum Seal. I season and puncture the meat, then marinate in this container. Good results.*****Double Seal for moist food is a nice feature for foods like chicken which always seem to have water.>Not really negative, just an FYIs>If you are planning to put it under a shelf it is 9" with cover up.>Bag Storage: Large rolls don't fit. You can't close the top to operate.>There is a good amount of bag used when sealing.

I was wrong, I thought it as slow. But I LOVE THIS Nesco VS-12.
(wrote this review over a span of a few hours while working. Hope it makes sense)I bought this Nesco after seeing so many reviews from companies picking this over the FoodSaver. I have been using FoodSaver for about 8 years, and I've gone through 3 different models, all top of the line models (at the time of purchase). I was ready to find something else that could be better and have a tight seal I ordered the VS-12 and set it up. It was smaller than the models of FS I had prior. I read and saw many people using the DOUBLE SEAL, and I started off using only the double seal. You couldn't go wrong double sealing anything. However, it was slow. VERY SLOW. SO slow, I thought there was a problem with the machine. Amazon sent me a replacement. Same "PROBLEM".What I didn't like about the FS was the amount of time it took to do the first seal on multiple bags. I hated that blink light when you insert the bag too early. However, doing the double seal on the Nesco was MUCH longer, I timed it, about 32-33 seconds from the time right after I sealed one to the time it will start sealing the next bag. I was frustrated and was going to return this Nesco. I just couldn't understand why there weren't reviews on how SLOW this machine is. I searched reviews with the word SLOW and found very few reviews.THEN A LIGHT BULB WENT OFF!The Foodsaver seals with a single line. I need to see how the single seal works with the Nesco to really compare apple to apple. Thus, I started using it in NORMAL mode. I was blown away at how tight the seal line was, and on top of that, how FAST it performed. I did NOT need to use the double seal feature. It is freaking nice to be able to do it if and when I want to do a double seal, but I do not see the need to go to that "extreme". Yes, it will be much slower, but you should expect that. The main thing is, in normal mode, this Nesco VS-12 will best everything the 3 FoodSavers I had could have done. I really do not see the need for a double seal as when you actually feel the seal line, it really is completely sealed up. BUT, it is definitely a very good feature to have if you are freezing A5 meat (HAHA).The only thing I wish they will change is the "locked"position of the locking handle. I wish they'd make it higher up instad of where it is. Why? Because sometimes I cut too small of a bag, and I try to squeeze in, and the item will jam into the handle and kinda pushes it upwards, which could unlock or lighten the seal. But, overall, I find the Nesco VS-12 to be a solid vacuum sealer. Just seeing the seal line alone, you can see how solid of a seal it is. I've had problems of the Foodsaver seal coming apart (leaking air IN) overtime in the freezer. I will update this review if I have that problem with the Nesco.

NESCO Food Storage
The sealer works great and (with the exception of operator error) have not had any issues. Watch the sales, bag the food and will see just how long the items remain fresh! I only use their bags to avoid any issues with that. Now, if it would just let me seal bread :-)

Referred from SeriousEats
Bought this on recommendation from SeriousEats. It took no time at all to figure out how to use and it's been solid. A few dozen seals done and no failures.Other units might be faster but this one seals fast enough for my needs and isn't extremely loud. It's wide enough to be able to get some large pieces of beef in with plenty of room. Very happy and I've recommended it to others

Quiet and easy to use
Love it!! Wish I'd bought one sooner. For longer term storage in a freezer, it has to be vacuum sealed to prevent freezer burn. So easy to use, with clearly marked buttons. A lot quieter than the older FoodSaver I used to have. Bag roll storage with built in cutter is nice. Nice heavy handle and hooks to lock it down. This model was the America's Test Kitchen winner and I can see why! After-market bags work just fine with it, although the longer length rolls will not fit inside. I just keep the cardboard tubes for previous rolls and split the larger rolls to fit.Oh, and it is strong enough to crush a soda can!
