This gets pretty hot and comes in handy when there is a small pot/pan I can't use on my induction stovetop. Great to have around to make fresh percolated coffee which is what I use it for every day. Stores away easy and lightweight! Great value for the $, however, I have only used this for a few weeks so I can't speak to its longevity.

I've been through other coil portable electric stove tops, infrared-- or whatever it's called--(that use a lot of electricity1200 watts or more and do not heat faster. The one I have but don't use actually takes much longer to heat the same 5 qrt pit of soup.), and the iron top ones (these are great when they work, but lack the finesse of heat regulation, and take longer to cool off). This 1k watt stove works perfectly. It heats up large 5 quart pots and you have to lower the temp to a 2 or so to keep a good simmer going. This is the first one I've owned that has that finesse in heat regulation. It's easy to store, and I prefer the stainless steel appearance. My only complaint is that it is a pain to clean. The coil is not moveable, so getting under it to clean overspills is a major pain.

As you can see for yourself. It does the work . This scrambled eggs takes me less than 2 mins to cook

See the UPDATE below after reading.... My original review>:>:>> Wow. This hotplate is what you need. Only used it once so far, but I'm giving it 5* right now. I will definitely update if it fails. I did the recommended "burn-off" for 5 mins, no smoke at all. An hour later, I heated up 21oz of condensed soup. Took less than 4 minutes to make it too hot to eat. Almost boiled. Works as good as my 6" big stove burner. Maybe better. Don't hesitate to buy this one. The value for the price can't be beat. Thanks for reading my review. UPDATE >> IT FAILED. 5 months in and used less than 20X, the burner lit up its last time in one particular spot and then never worked again. (Burner now has an open circuit) I'd like it replaced because it's still under warranty. But I'm not making the effort unless the seller wants to swap me a new one in exchange for this rating downgrade. 5 stars to 1 star, with much disappointment. I'll be waiting...
