Q: If you set the timer for 2 hrs, I understand it’ll turn off after 2 hrs. How do I know when it’ll turn back on though?

It does not turn back on until you set it again

Q: Is this for heat and “ sun”

That would just depend on what kind of bulb you use in the fixture.

Q: for basking purposes, can this heat lamp give off 90 to 95 degree tempretures? and can it be used for aquariums with covers?

I used it on my turtle for basking. She loved it. I have her in a tank. My tank has a metal piece in the center. I haven't had any issues with it. I would use the timer. It works great for my Emily.
