Astor Piazzolla - Vuelvo al Sur: 10 Tangos and Other Pieces for Piano

A solid, if rather short, volume of Piazzolla arranged for piano. Readily manageable by a late intermediate to early advanced pianist (I’m using it for sight reading practice — with some effort — and I think an intermediate player could learn these pieces too). Gorgeous pieces. I can’t vouch for the authenticity of the arrangements, but they are very playable and an excellent break from the classical repertoire.

Pianists at the grade 9/10 level of piano will easily learn and enjoy the exhuberant tangos of Astor Piazzolla. They would be great recital pieces for the end of year concert and/or "boredom busters" for classical pianists looking for something lighter to play for their friends and family. I have noticed that competitive figure skaters frequently choose Piazzolla's passionate music for their competitions as the pulsing rhythms likely help propell them through their difficult programs. An appealing collection for all generations.

I am a concert classical pianist, and I think this is not in the advanced level. The melodies are nice, but the arrangement is not "classical". I would not put in my solo recital, maybe students'. I was looking for something sounds more classical. This is good for piano bar, but not recital halls.

I'd recommend for the late intermediate to advanced pianist. A collection with considerable variety, done by a master of tango.

Die Stücke sind anspruchsvoll, sowohl in technischer als auch künstlerischer Hinsicht. Auf einer Schwierigkeitsskala von 1-7 würde ich die 5 wählen. Auf Fingersätze wurde verzichtet, aber die dynamischen Zeichen (p/f/cresc./etc.) sind enthalten und für die Interpretation hilfreich. Der Komponist vermischt zeitgenössische spanische Musik mit klassischen Tango-Elementen. Die Stücke klingen melancholisch, sehnsüchtig und trotz allem sind sie voller Leben. Ich habe schon viele spanische Komponisten gespielt, aber nur Piazzolla schafft es, daß ich beim Spielen eine Gänsehaut bekomme. Im Vorwort wird geschrieben, daß man die Stücke von Piazzolla hören muß, um sie richtig zu spielen. Meine Meinung: Das muß nicht zwingend der Fall sein. Es ist spannend, sich die Stücke anzueignen und die eigene Interpretation entfalten zu lassen. Und dann, wenn man die Stücke beherrscht, die Interpretation vom Komponisten anzuhören.

Habe das Album an eine Freundin verschenkt. Als Klavierspielerin mit (mäßigen Kenntnissen) war sie echt begeistert. Für Musiker in der Mittelstufe offenbar gut geeignet. Darüber hinaus wurde die Umsetzung der Original-Songs auch von einem sehr begabten Klavierlehrer gelobt. Aber grundsätzlich kann man mit Argentino nicht viel falsch machen. Diese Stücke lassen per se viel persönliche Gestaltungsfreiheit.

Astor Piazzolla ist wie er klingt, kompliziert zu spielen. Aber er klingt einfach wunderschön und mit ein bisschen Übung schafft man es. Die Noten selbst sind schön präsentiert.
