I use the cane working sheep
I bought this cane in 2015 (writing this in 2024). It was less than half the price then. The current picture seems to show a different wood than what I bought in 2015. I bought it to work with sheep. It's a very good cane for that purpose. It's very sturdy and is undamaged after nine years use. I use it most to direct sheep and can hook a sheep by the neck with the handle. I read comments about the finish. The factory finish was atrocious. My cane came with a light coating of shellac. I stripped it, stained it and coated it with an oil finish. Every few years I renew the oil finish because the cane is used in rain and snow, and I want to protect the cane from water damage.

Totally NOT as represented!
This cane is completely raw unfinished wood. I will have to take the time, material, and effort to finish it for use. I have bought two of these previously that were well made and had finished wood, like the one featured in this ad. This was totally misrepresented as a finished product.

Rough finish on handle
Good wood for the most part and great length at 37.5 on all six I ordered. Handle leaves something to be desired. Roughly finished and roughly bent would be my take on this. They are planed off on top probably due to the wood not leaving a not so good surface when it was bent. It can however through some filing and sanding make a nice handle. Price was right and depending on what you buy it for it will be ok. You get what you pay in this cane business and they have gone up like everything else. All told for the price they are a good cane. You can always wrap paracord, string etc around the handle for a different feel.

Got mine today
Mine came today and I am satisfied. It has all the quality typical of stockman's canes from other sources. Nice and heavy and like other's lacking a tip. That was to be expected and I use those chair protectors from the hardware store for ,y collection of stockman's canes. I like the fact that the crook does not curl in as much as canes from other sources and the tip is better shaped . I am still going to boil in the tip in electric kettle to expand it about an inch though as I do with all my canes that double as self-defense tools. I give all these canes 4 stars because the finish leaves something to be desired and takes some work with sandpaper and paste wax to make right. I much prefer unfinished canes but the work to make this right is small and not a deal breaker. The "Bradley Cardwell" imprint threw at first though, still don't know what that is about

Lifetime cane
First thing you need to know, these are herding canes, a farm tool. Aside from that, they are perfect for a heavy person. Most canes are rated at around 300 lbs capacity, they are lighter weight and easier to handle. These are about 37” tall and 1” hickory (I think). I use a large crutch tip on them.(they come without tips) I am around 6’2” tall and about 450 lbs, I needed a heavy duty cane. With the xl crutch tips these weigh close to 2-2.5 pounds each, I use two canes, so close to 5 pounds. I splintered three sets of carex brand canes before I found these, not carex’s fault, I was to big for the canes. Haven’t had any problem since I got this set around three years ago, still going strong with no flex at all. Just know they are big and heavy, like me.

CANE MADE STABLE
THIS CANE IS GOOD. THE ONLY CONCERN I HAD IS THAT IN THE PICTURE SHOWN, IT APPEARS TO BE PROPERLY STAIN FINISHED. UPON ARRIVAL, I FOUND THE CANE TO BE UNFINISHED. I LEFT MESSAGE FOR SELLER ADVISING THEM OF THIS PROBLEM. HE RESPONDED, THIS WAS NOT GUARANTEED. I SUGGEST IN THE FUTURE, THIS CANE BE SHOWN AS A UNFINISHED CANE, NEEDING TO BE STAIN FINISHED. ALL OTHER CANES I HAVE BOUGHT REQUIRE NO ADDITIONAL FINISH WORK. THIS COST ME ADDITIONAL MONEY.

No rubber tip for stability in walking, rough unfinished surface does not look like one shown in ad.
Like weight and wood but crook slope inward vs being straight, thus narrowing opening, which delete possible use for self defense twirling technique. I specially ask for greater than 4” open crook

It's a Stockman's cane.
It's a sturdy stick of cane length with a hook in it. Great for herding small animals around or just going for walks. If I have to use it to fend off a bear, I'll be sure my widow knows to write that the stick annoyed the bear.
