Bernards Cedar Chest, White

After reading the reviews I ordered this chest knowing I probably was not going to get the one pictured and I didn't. The one I received has a raised half flower motif. I really didn't care what the ornamentation was and there is plenty of room to add your own decorations. They should change the picture or have a disclaimer. All pieces were there and in good condition. The hardware comes in a very nice and clearly marked blister pack. I put this together myself in about an hour. It helps to have someone else hold the lid while attaching but I didn't and still managed to get it together. If you have never put furniture like this together before the instructions could be a little hard to understand but I found them to be no worse than other instructions for put - together - furniture. I suggest laying everything out and reading over the instructions before attempting to put together. This was by far the easiest piece I've done.

I ordered this because (at least at the time I ordered it) there was no mention of "some assembly required" and I needed a chest this size but I did NOT want to put one together. Then it arrived "COMPLETE assembly required" but it was so heavy there was no way I was going to haul it off to UPS to return it. The directions were ridiculously bad, and it took two of us two hours just to get the lid put on with the hinges in the correct configuration. Finally we got it together and after comparing it with the picture in the item description I realized they had sent us the wrong chest! I liked the floral pattern on the front and it was absent from the one we got -- instead we got one with a sort of raised shell motif. I will certainly never order from this company again. Terrible experience.

Sweated during assembly (alone) but finished chest is beautiful.

The chest was relatively easy to assemble. The hinge instruction installation was not clear. I installed the hinges upside down then figured that the snap action portion had to be on the door. The pre-drilled holes were all lined up close enough to make the hardware installation fit.

Not happy. They sent the wrong one to me twice. Never got the flowered one that is advertised in this ad.

Needless to say I was very frustrated that this was not the chest I ordered. I ordered the one with the flowers on it for my young grand-daughter. I have 2 more granddaughters that I was going to order the same chest for.......but not now. I kept the incorrect one because after unpacking and assembly already started (and her birthday soon) I didn't have time to pack up and send back. Very disappointed!
