Soil Sunrise Terrarium Potting Soil Mix (4 Quarts) w/Blended Filtering Charcoal Custom Made for Terrariums

I've purchased this twice in 2 different sizes. The first was when I was brand new to terrariums and didn't really know what I was doing. I did my first few setups using this soil and never had a problem. No deaths or rotting and most importantly no fruit gnats (Which I've encountered in other brands). Then I started mixing my substrates from other materials to meet the needs of my plants more specifically. But, I bought the 8 qt. bag of this because I knew it would work for nearly any terrarium setup (even carnivorous plants) based on the 3 main ingredients. I've also purchased other items from Soil Sunrise and they've been pretty high quality materials.

When I received this the first thing I noticed was that the bag was very lightweight. When I opened it I thought it was more like peat moss than soil. It was very dry so I added it to the soil that was already in the terrarium and mixed it in. I don’t think it would work by itself.

Excellent, fluffy tree fern fiber. Perfect for the soil mix I was creating. It was good quality. There were no foreign bits in it. I think the amount you received was a good value. I would buy it again because I don't have call for large amounts of it.

Soil mix is excellent, its very light though and in hindsight i should have bought the bigger packet.
