what comes with the F5 Polaris vac-Sweep 280 for $419.84

A new attachment for pool wall, 30' of tubing with floats attached, check valve for movement reversal, and of course the 280 and debri trap. Basically if you had one before you just plug this one in. Great deal.

Does the 360 come with the fatter hose?

Yes, the large hose is shipped in the package.

I have a 280, which is about to go into nether-nether land. Will the 360 connection fit into the original 280 opening on the pool wall?

The 360 will not work in your situation. If you have a 180, 280 or 380 then you have a booster pump and the 360 model is designed to be used is systems that do not have a booster pump. It will mount up the same but it will not work correctly and will be a nightmare to maintain. The plumbing on the pool would have to be changed and I don't see any reason anybody would do that to make an inferior cleaner work.
