Spoke to many of my students.

I have every Spot book and I always feel like Alber has covered everything. Then more books are released that are exactly what we need in class. With the end of the year upon us and testing season here, you can see the frustration in the kids in classrooms. This book opened up a great discussion about how to handle frustration and made a great connection to the flexible thinking book by Alber. I love that there are different examples of frustrations kids may feel and leads to the conversation to other frustrations they may feel. We wrote down what we have been frustrated by in the last week and they partnered up and helped each other think of ways they could use flexible thinking to flip their thinking. Another hit in our second grade class!

Another great Little Spot book!

All of the Little Spot books have been well with the purchase. They are relatable for kids. I read them at home with my own child and at work with students in a school setting. I love these books!

Great book, jumps fast

This book is super cute and totally nails frustration for kids. I love the ideas behind taking control and how to manage it. I do wish one of the kids would have been frustrated in the beginning or someone was so it could lead into the book. The book was an immediate jump first page, as an adult I am fully aware of what frustration looks like but to a kid it's just words unless they see it which is not until later. That being said, I still think this is a fantastic find and recommend it to all parents.

Such a helpful tool

As an elementary school counselor, I talk with kids daily about feelings and emotions. Frustration is something that comes up often. A Little Spot of Frustration is a great tool to use with kids to explain exactly what it is and what to do about it. I love using Diane Alber's books to teach my kids. Recommend!PS: If you need tons of ideas to go with her books, be sure to purchase her educator's guide. It is worth every penny!

A book about managing frustration

Diane alber talks about how to navigate frustrating situations, and how to change your thinking by being flexible and controlling what you can within that situation. In her books there's usually a helpful rhyming phrase that can help your children remember the tool or skill from the book, and this one is pretty good! I think the book explains frustration well.Parts of the book (to me) seem to invalidate or minimize the amount of frustration kids can feel, so that definitely makes the book less useful to me and my parenting philosophy. Some more validation and acceptance of the feeling could have been included to help guide children towards even better emotional health. Parents can always point that out or add their own two cents while reading the book with their child. My main takeaway is, the book gives you and your child another useful tool, but some might not love the wording in certain parts.

Awesome book

So glad I purchased this book, I also purchased one of the box sets that should arrive soon. My 3.5 year old son was hanging on every word and talking about how he gets frustrated and interacting with the book and the characters asking why they were frustrated. He knows most of his emotions but I’ve struggled to teach him how to manage them and I think this book will help with that.

Great suggestions!

My son is 6 and experiences many of the situations described in this book! I love the mantra (repeated words) used to help children remember how to calm down.
