Awesome
This is an awesome toy! The white one is really cool looking – it has awesome cool-blue LED lights, fender bumpers, LED battery power indicator and you can use it indoors or outside. I actually bought this in white and blue for both of my kids – they’ve wanted one for a while. I didn’t get them one when these first came out mainly because of the issues of them catching on fire and exploding – so like with most technology I didn’t jump on the bandwagon initially and waited until some of the kinks were worked out. One reason I bought these particular hoverboards was because of the manufacturer. I’ve had several Razor products including electric scooters and I’ve never had an issue, so I trusted the name brand. Another reason is that it’s UL 2272 certified which means that it meets the industry’s highest electrical standards which put my mind at ease about this thing not catching on fire. The Razor Hovertrax 2.0 Hoverboard Self-Balancing Smart Scooter is well built and so much fun. I bought these as Christmas gifts, so I had to test this out myself – and it is not as easy as it looks! I honestly almost took out one of my cats on this thing! Riding this takes some coordination and skill – but I eventually was able to successfully ride this after a little practice. There are actually some YouTube videos on tips on how to get up and going on one of these pretty quickly. It also helps that there is a training mode and normal use mode – I definitely needed the training mode. The smart balancing technology helps as well and it automatically levels for an easier mount. I like that the Hovertrax 2.0 is pretty quiet and the speed is pretty good too. You may not think that 8 to 10 MPH is fast, but when you are cruising on this thing it feels like you’re on the motor speedway. Charging this is pretty easy and you can ride for about an hour in between charges. I also like that you can get an extra battery and change out for extra riding time. Overall I am happy with my purchase – the price is decent. I’m sure that local stores may have these available for a little less on Black Friday, but I’d rather get one now and ensure I have them versus fighting someone in Walmart or taking a chance not being able to secure one online. That happened to me last year with a TV – I bought it on Black Friday online and got a receipt and pickup time – but two days later my card was refunded because they ran out! I can’t wait until Christmas so I can see the look on my kids face when they open this present and finally get the hoverboard they wanted.

Solid buy
I was reluctant to spend this amount of money on a relatively unknown commodity, but my 11 and 6 year olds wanted one more than anything for Christmas, so we obliged. Now that we've opened them and have had a chance to see what they're all about, we are extremely pleased with the product. Safety and durability were our main concerns, the safety part we are happy with, I'd say they are much less dangerous than a bicycle, but the fact that you can use these indoors increases the risk of accidents, but I do not feel that is due to the hoverboard, at least not this version from Razor. The hoverboard self balances as advertised, when the machine is turned on, it stands straight on its own. Does not mean you can just stand there with it like you're on a step stool, but does add a level of stability that bicycles or standard scooters do not have. There is a training and regular mode, the kids stood on them in training mode while holding onto the kitchen counter to get a feel for it and then within a few minutes they were standing on them without much support. Both the 11 and 6 year olds were able to ride them as advertised within 10 minutes with a little practice. They were already multi-tasking on the units by the end of the night, it's basically like they float around the house now, they have complete control on them. I'm surprised how easily our 6 year old girl was able to pick it up. It is too heavy for her to carry up and down the stairs though, the 11 year old boy is able to transport the unit without issue. Christmas was an absolute success and the kids ride the hoverboards for hours everyday. Easy maintenance, ready to ride out of the box, and apparently relatively low learning cover. Note: Their 40 year old mother tried to stand on it and fell on her butt within 30 seconds:) Not made for adults, great for kids though!! I'll update the review later in the year to confirm durability, we should know how much stress these can take once spring rolls around.

Easy to learn, safe, fast or slow when you need it.
My daughter loves to ride this hoverboard. Before, she only went outside to play about 15 min like,5 times a week if there were no friends around. But now she does it 1 hour DAILY!!! Its safe to ride after 5 min with help.its kinda bumpy outside where there is sticks and rocks.but its as fun as riding a bike.

Newer Hovertrax 2.0 are a downgrade from the original
When I got this hoverboard and tried it out I was pretty disappointed. I have tried a number of hoverboards over the years. I have an older version of the Hovertrax 2.0 which I bought in 2014. It was our first hoverboard and my kids love it. It is fast and responsive. That version of the Hovertrax 2.0 is the most responsive hoverboard I have been able to find. Since then I have bought other brands and types of hoverboards for my other kids. Each time I have been disappointed, because none has been as good as our first one that we bought. Some I have tried have been cheaper and some have been more expensive. One I bought that had a 400 Watt motor and cost $500. It too was still not as responsive as my original Hovertrax 2.0. I finally decided that I was sick of trying all these other hoverboards and decided to simply get another Hovertrax 2.0. To my surprise Razor has actually made significant changes to their Hovertrax 2.0 hoverboard. One might think that that would constitute a model change as well...and they would call it Hovertrax 3.0. I can maybe understand their dilemma though, for them to market it as a Hovertrax 3.0, might imply that it is an improvement on the Hovertrax 2.0. However their latest rendition is not an improvement but a downgrade. The latest version is not as powerful or as responsive as the original. With my old Hoverboard I could lean forward hard and the hoverboard would respond and accelerate quickly as well. This one actually can't handle it and loses power and I often fall off the hoverboard because it will in fact lose power if I lean to far forward too quickly. I talked with Razor support and they respond that it is what it is now. I am super disappointed in their latest rendition of the Hovertrax 2.0. Oh the good ole days. I have since bought two more of the older models on ebay where I can see non-stock photos from which I can distinguish the difference between the older better model and the newer crappier model.

This thing is a lot of fun
I got this for my 10yr old daughter, but its more than capable enough for a full size adult. I'm around 175lbs and its able to go up hill with ease, even in training mode. Its been a lot of fun for both of us to learn and we were actually able to pick it up pretty quickly. She (60lbs) rode it the first day for about 2 hours and the battery still had power to spare before we put it back on the charger. At the beginning, she had a hard time getting on it and was wobbly, but after about 5 minutes she was looking pretty good and by the end of the 2hrs, she was almost a pro. Its surprisingly stable over bumps and ruts, however if you are looking for a true off-road hoverboard, there may be better ones out there with larger wheels and cushier tires. She was initially nervous to go downhill because it has no brakes, but it turned out to be a non-issue. Going downhill you can simply rock back and the motors will slow you down and even bring you to a stop or go back up the hill if you want. I can't speak to longevity because we have only had it a few days, but it seems very well built. It is heavy, but well balanced. Most of the weight is in the motors and wheels and not the battery. One last point on the cost, they are all made in China (all that I've seen), so manufacturing wise, they are all on a level playing field. Given that, there is no reason any of the hoverboards should cost much more than the Hovertrax 2.0 (my Amazon price $150). As an engineer, I know that the big hitters for the BOM cost on this board are the battery pack and the motors. The Hovertrax has an UL certified 36v battery with real LG cells and my experience is that it lives up to its spec (unlike some cheap products and batteries that I've had). It has the 350w peak, hub motors, which are the best I've seen on Amazon and the firmware is built by Razor, which is a solid company. Could some additional lights and speakers add to the cost? Sure, but add in the cost of your favorite portable bluetooth speaker, it shoudn't be much. If you pay $300, $400 or $600 for a hoverboard with similar specs and manufacturing, somebody's making a bunch of money...

Sputter free! Smooth ride
We have 3 different hover boards and this one is the easiest kid friendly one to use. This board seems to be easy to balance which makes it nice because when it's not balancing the board will sputter and it will end up knocking you off. Once one of the little ones get knock off due to its sputtering they tend to get discourage. Thankfully this one rarely does that. This board is easy to use, all you have to do is gently press the button which is located on the back. Once you power it on you gently step onto the board and go. The board will go faster as long as you Lean forward and press down with your toes. It's just as easy to slow down as it is to go, to slow down you press back with your heals and the board will slow down. It can come to a complete stop by doing this until it comes to a stop. The board comes with a charger that charges fairly quickly. The lights on the board help indicated the level of it charge. . /

Battery problem, but great fun
Amazing fun but won’t charge anymore (it’s been almost a year). Serial number mostly scraped off on bottom from normal riding so can’t submit a support claim. Loved it while it lasted

Poor battery life, and the company should stand by its product up to a year after purchase.
This Hoverboard worked great until the battery died. Unfortunately, that was very early on and yet it was outside the 90 day window in which razr will cover a battery replacement. The new battery cost $44. I bought from this company because it is an actual legitimate company and not just unknown brand name, garbage. However, customer service in this day and age is sorely lacking so buyer beware.
