McCormick Umami Seasoning with Mushrooms and Garlic Onion, 10.5 oz

I use this one everything. Almost everything My soups, burgers, my stews, sandwiches, grilled cheese, mixing it with garlic butter. All of it the flavor fits with steaks and helps increase the savory flavors and the aroma it produces makes me hungry. Its the perfect all for one powder.

I have used this umami seasoning for quite some time as a substitute for a mushroom flavor in many recipes. My husband truly hates mushrooms, but it gives that nice umami flavor without the subjection of mushrooms. The consistency is always there with this seasoning, and it seems like a nice mixture, seeming always to have sturdiness in the fridge with its bottle, and I have never had moisture issues. I have always kept mine in the fridge since most other brands recommend it for the mushrooms' content to keep it fresher longer. This has been the best brand that gives me value for the money since this seasoning is usually quite pricy.

I love this on my ramen noodles and soups. It lends to a smoky but light flavor. Not overpowering for a mushroom taste without the mushroom presence.

KEEP IN MIND, that an "umami" blend isn't meant to add specific/notable pungent spice flavors. This isnt a spice blend per say, but a variety of spices that come together to help create an overall "umami" (Umami, being another one of the tastes our tongues recognize along with salt, sweet, bitter, and sour, it is generally described as having a “savory” or “meaty” quality). I think this does the job (and this is where nuance comes into play as there is more than one way to achieve umami ie soy, miso, kelp, mushroom, etc) Pleasant savory flavor, easy to use, versatile. I will often use more savory spices, or some soy, and/or mushroom powder to boost the savory umami flavor. Umami doesnt always have to be salty. It just needs to expand the tastebuds to pick up on a slightly meaty essence. Hence why mushrooms and soy are often used. But some products are way overloaded with sodium. This has its fair share at 100 mg per 1/4 tsp serving, but it isn't going to push my intake over the edge. Has a powder like consistency. Not at all granular. Think more like a mushroom powder. Has a nice easy taste that works well sprinkled ON foods (potatoes! eggs, egg noodles, etc), or doled out into a recipe (meatballs, meatloaf, burgers, veggie burgers, roasts, seitan, gravy, etc). I recommend using it as BASE of flavor, then working up from there with other spices. But by all means, give this a try alone too. I like it sprinkled into my sipping broths, where some need a little added oomph

This was the perfect addition to my homemade cup o'noodles! The flavor was so good, and it wasn't too salty. It was a good value for the money. In a quart jar: 2 squares millet & brown rice noodles 1/3 cup dehydrated mixed veggies 2 tbsp ramen powder 1/2 tsp unami seasoning

This is my second purchase, because the first one ran out I was so happy with it. I have issues with my sense of smell and taste and my sister recommended this and I'm glad she did. It is not overpowering at all. Of course that depends on how much you put on. Only you can figure that out for yourself. But buy it with confidence because it's really really good.

Yummy! I put it on chicken, potatoes, it is very good. Gives a lot of extra flavor with just a few shakes.

Great seasoning. I ordered a bottle to try and it was so delicious the wife and I ordered 2 more bottles the same day we first tasted it so we don't run out. Good on almost everything.

Just received the seasoning today 12Dec24 and I saw that the expiry date is 1Jan 25!!! With just 2 weeks left to finish the whole 10ounce???!! I find it absurd! Very disappointed.

Not sure about this product. Shaking a moderate amount produces little change of taste... to use a lot, would be prohibitively expensive. Will keep experimenting.
