(In case some poor soul is also trying to solve the same obscure audio problem that I was having.) This fixed an audio issue between my Sony SACD/DVD/Blu-ray player and my Onkyo 7.1 receiver. Here was my problem. When just the SACD player and the Receiver were connected, I could play DSD-encoded audio SACDs on my Onkyo, and it would correctly decode the DSD stream. (I did say this was obscure, right?) But when I plugged my LG TV into Onkyo's MAIN output, the DSD stream would stop. Some sort of EDID handshake issue between the three devices. No amount of messing with HDMI settings in the Sony SACD player or the LG TV could get the Onkyo to decode DSD when all three were plugged in. The Onkyo is 10+ years old, and the Sony and LG are very new. So I guess Onkyo just didn't implement some newer part of the HDMI standard? Or Sony is putting out something weird. And we know that Onkyo isn't providing firmware updates these days. Sigh. Anyway, I put this device between the Sony SACD player and the Onkyo Receiver. Sony on the INPUT side and Onkyo on the OUTPUT side. I picked the most capable multi-channel video option on the Dr. HDMI, and everything started working again. LG TV was plugged in, and I still got a multi-channel DSD stream. (Pro tip: listen to Fleetwood Mac's "Never Going Back Again" on an SACD on a good 5.1 system. Epic.) I didn't give this 5 stars because: 1) The documentation is scarce and not terribly helpful. Go to HDFury's website to get some help because there's nothing in the box. 2) While I didn't need to use it, the EDID app only runs on Windows, and it's rudimentary. You can't pick individual EDID features. It's just for loading custom EDIDs.

No idea what the magic trick .. on very few occasions it works.. no rhyme or reason.. because the next time it doesn't work on the same settings. .$130 and no manual or instructions.. all i can do is read the hundreds of threads that only make it more frustrating... Total sucker i was to by this flimsy $2 worth of plastic and a few wires... No way i would recommend this!!

This product is fantastic for troubleshooting and solving HDMI issues. Would be nice if the GUI was able to parse and produce an EDID in human readable form. Took a star off for that.

Unfortunately, I experienced absolutely no benefit from this product when trying to link an Optima projector through a 20 ft HDMI cable run to a DVD player. As they say in Maine; "Ya can't get there from here."
