Trammel Points Heads Beam Compass with Hardened Points, Fine Adjustment and Pencil Holder TP

I just got this product (fast) and was delighted with the solid craftmanship unlike plastic products sold in Lowes (Stanley). As I read reviews before ordering there was lots of discussion about the pencil holder (mine came with the pencil holder no problem) and also some confusion about how to attach and use the pencil holder. Pretty simple, unscrew the long metal point (on the right in photo) and screw in the pencil holder. Now simply cut down a pencil and push it into the holder. It's a tight fit but thats good ( I had to shave the edges of the pencil just a bit). Anyway I VERY impressed with this tool!

These seem rather well made for the price. At the end of the day, it is simply two sharp pins on a stick, but they are sharp, they actually unscrew from the holder, there is a pencil holder as well, and they certainly clamp on the bar rather firmly. All in all, perfectly good.

Tool is very well made, very good value. Only gave it 3 stars because of the pencil holder. You must use just a stub of a pencil and it is very hard to get the pencil on the holder. For this reason I returned item for credit and purchased another item.

I've worked with many trammels over the years and these trammels are excellent quality, black powder coating is the best I've seen on such an inexpensive tool. the adjusting screw works perfectly, added pencil holder is really nice.... good job Taytools !!!

Watch out, they're sharp !!!

It was fine for the price but it had to be shimmed up to be tightened in any position that I wanted.
