This thread works well for keeping sardines and anchovies on the hook. It is has the right amount of strength to keep your bait on but doesn't require a knife to remove. You can snap it with a good tug.

Works but is too time consuming, small rubber bands are faster and hold bait as well. Might be usefull in some finesse fishing situation.
