I bought this to try because being a woman "of a certain age" I've been dealing with hot flashes for nearly 30 years as I refuse to take any hormone replacement -- I figured since women for centuries dealt with hot flashes....so could I. Keep one thing in mind, ladies, not all doctors will tell you this but when you start going through the change some of you will have hot flashes for a few months, some for a few years, and some very "special" ones (like myself) have the privilege and joy of living with them for the rest of our lives! Thank goodness for nature!!! Flaxseed does help, although it doesn't eliminate them by any means. I've been buying whole flaxseed and pulverizing it in my bullet to add to my protein shakes as whole flax seeds do not digest, but only run right through your system. No matter how much I tried to chop them up, though, there were still "husks" which I'd have to rinse out of my mouth. When I saw this flaxseed powder I thought I'd give it a try. I use a tablespoon in each protein drink, making two a day to ensure I get enough protein, and flaxseed is high in Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, antioxidants, AND gives you additional protein. I like that it's an American company owned by women, even if they do get most of their flaxseed from north of our border! I was so pleased when I opened the package and saw that, in fact, it really was powder...no husks because it's so finely milled! It mixes wonderfully in my protein shake and doesn't add any taste to speak of. I would recommend this to anyone thinking of using flaxseed. Nature IS our best medicine!

I've been using this product for over a year now. I like the consistency and quality of the product. My quibble is more around the "NEW LOOK" change in packaging a few months ago. The package simply does not close tightly, like the previous package did. So I have to press it down, twist the top down a couple times and use a clip to keep it closed. Manitoba Milling Co., if you read this review, please ensure the company that you source these packages from is made aware.

I have been grain free for over 3 years, and I have been experimenting with bread alternatives for almost that long. Lately I found a recipe that called for "finely ground flax meal", but nothing I could find or grind seemed to be good enough. I took a chance & bought a bag of this and it worked out GREAT! My current recipe for grain free hamburger buns - amounts are for one bun, but easy to scale up. Sift together: 1/4c cassava flour, 1Tbsp flax powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp salt. Blend together: 1 large egg, 1Tbsp avocado oil, 1Tbsp honey, 1Tbsp warm water. Add sifted mixture to blender & blend on (the batter setting if you have a Blendtec, otherwise I would say pulse on low until well incorporated.) Pour into hamburger bun pan (or I use a "muffin top pan" from Chicago Metallic) Bake at 350F for 23ish minutes. It comes out dark, almost like rye bread, but it's pretty darn good. The original recipe I found, while I appreciate the inspiration it gave me, just... wasn't. Applesauce might have less fat, but it also has less flavor LOL

I add this to smoothies, protein drinks, and hot cereals for extra fiber and omegas. Its flour-like consistency dissolves much better than most flax meal. It can also be used as a thickener and even mixed with water to use like eggs as a binder in baked goods, although I haven’t yet tried that. Highly recommend.

I've been putting this in my morning protein shakes for a long time. Solid buy, great taste, always fresh, wonderful quality.

This ground flax meal is the best I have ever tried. It works amazing for baking lactation cookies and makes the flavour perfect. I love how the texture isn’t gritty like other ground flaxseed products. The fact that you don’t have to refrigerate is also a plus (who has extra room in their fridge?). I have repurchased twice and will continue to do so. This made my lactation cookies famous within my friend group. I have also ate it raw in oatmeal and smoothies and I can’t say enough good things about it. Definitely recommend.

FLAX SEED IS EXCELLENT QUALITY. IT IS A FINE POWDER AND EASY TO MIX WITH YOGERT.

This is a wonderful, smooth powder that I use every day in my smoothie. It's ground very fine. I have gone through several bags already and will continue purchasing it. It's very convenient to receive two bags at a time.

has a great texture due to the very fine ground milling. The velcro-like zipper to close the bag is innovative in that it's easier and quicker to close than standard zips, but because the milled flax seed is so fine it gets stuck inside the velcro and then the bag doesn't close very well (and it's hard to get the milled flax seed out of the velcro). Other than that, this would be the perfect product if it was also organic. For some reason I thought it was because the other products I was comparing it to were organic.

I confess I purchased this in error. I didn't notice that it is not organic. We (well almost) always purchase the organic. This product was pushed (on Amazon) and I was in a rush so I didn't double check. I would have had to scroll through screen after screen for our usual stuff, maybe. However, my husband uses it and says he doesn't really notice that much of a difference. The organic brand has a better texture (not a powder-maybe better suited to smoothies) and the quantity is enormous compared with this package.
