Patch Products LLC 8091 OK to Wake! Children's Alarm Clock & Night-Light

How do I say enough good things about this clock!? My son is autistic, and has never been a good sleeper. This product has helped us tremendously. Before, he was getting out of bed and staying awake from between 5:30-5:15am (this is after not falling asleep until around 10-10:30pm usually). He was irritable, tired, and just plain needed more sleep. We used this clock to gradually move his out-of-bed time to 7:05am, and he is so much more well rested! Since he was staying in bed instead of wandering around, he was able to fall back asleep during those in-between hours. He usually comes out now between 7:05-7:15am, saying "guys, my clock turned green! Come check it out!" He also loves to bring it in to his sister's room to show her. "Lucy, time to get up! The clock is green!" So cute. To help get him some more rest on the bed-time end of the night, we have been using a super low dose of melatonin right when we start his bedtime routine, which allows him to fall asleep around 8:30pm. I do not recommend trying that without the suggestion and/or approval from a child's pediatrician! But without this clock, the mornings would still be a nightmare, even with the melatonin (we've been using that for around 4 months now). I would have liked to try this a little sooner, but I'm not sure it would have worked for him sooner. It's impossible to tell really. He is almost 4, and really has made a lot of advancements lately on listening to instructions. We've been using the clock successfully for about 2 months now. I am thinking about ordering another one for my 18 month old daughter, because I think she would like it as well! She has luckily never had the sleep issues our son has but it would be nice (for me!) if she'd stay in bed until a consistent time each morning. Maybe I'll try it when she's fully weaned and closer to 2...

Edit: Product has been updated to use USB power from an adapter so they addressed my one gripe. Now 5 stars. This has been one of the most valuable tools for our children and we have used it for years. Pros: We bought this to teach our children about wake up times and to keep them from coming out of the bedroom 8,000,000 times. We tell the kids at bedtime that it is time to sleep and they can only come out for emergencies and using the bathroom until the clock turns green. We tell them if they wake up before it turns green to try and go back to sleep or they can get up and quietly read books or play. Then if they sleep in, the clock makes no noise and just glows until they wake up and see it. This thing works like magic! Our kids sleep consistently and only get up when they need something. Such a great tool that has been reliable for us. Con: This is a five star product except for one annoying thing which is why I give it 4 stars. It will NOT plug into AC power and runs on batteries ONLY. Now, I love that it has a battery feature but 99% of the time I don't need the battery feature. It got expensive putting in alkaline batteries so I had to buy several sets of rechargeable batteries to rotate out. The battery life is good (3-4months) but still an unnecessary hassle when you could just build in AC power.

This is a pretty good little product for $20. Our 2.5 year old is starting to resist naps, so we use this to let him know when "quiet time" is over. The light on timer can be set from 15 minutes to two hours, which is helpful, and the nap duration time can be adjusted from 1 minute to multiple hours. The "ok to wake" function is great: you set a time when you want the clock to light up green, and then use another function to set how long you'd like it to remain green for (up to two hours). We usually set it around 7AM and it will stay green until 9AM. So if he wakes up before 7AM, he knows he has to stay in bed and if he wakes up after 7AM the clock is green and he can get out of bed. If he sleeps past 9AM, the clock is not green, but at that point I'm up so who cares. Clicking on the left foot button makes the "night light" go on. It's an ambient yellow light that can be adjusted to three brightness levels. I'm not a huge fan of this because my son wants to play with his "big boy clock" and just turns that light on and off and on and off, which I imagine drains the batteries more quickly. The right foot button turns the "ok to wake" function off, and makes a little smile face appear on the LCD screen. Again, my son loves to press these buttons which I'm sure drain the battery. The control buttons are well hidden behind a panel that would be very difficult for a child to access. Not too much I'd change about this unit I guess, other than a lock button to limit functionality of the left and right toe buttons. That way a child could still press them, but they wouldn't do anything. It only took my son a few days to understand the concept of being able to leave the bed when his big boy clock is green.

Very happy with this product. We had an issue where our three year old daughter kept waking us up at 5:00am. It only took a couple nights for her to understand the concept that she was to stay in bed until the clock lights up. The product is cute enough that it fits in great with the kids room. The controls are a little confusing at first, but once you play around with them a little bit they're not too hard. There are a good amount of options you can set. This product is battery operated only. The company offers other products that you can plug in, but I really wish this one could. The other products aren't as "cutesy" and some have analog clocks, which just aren't relevant anymore. They need to make this product with a plug-in option. Although batteries haven't been a concern for us yet. We've had the product for a couple months now and we haven't had to replace the batteries. The batteries are only for backup. It needs to be plugged into a standard USB charger for long-term use. Cute design and simple enough to setup. It keeps my kid from invading my bed.

I mean, it eats batteries a little fast, but it's worth it. It's cute. My son loves it in his room. We turn on the night light every night, plus the OK to wake is turned on, and we have to change the batteries maybe once every 2 months. When you change the batteries, it resets, so you have to reprogram with your preferences. But it's super easy to do. And it works. It does what it's supposed to do. And it looks cute while doing it. So I have no complaints, I'm happy with it.

Réveil top pour mon fils de 5 ans, voilà déjà 2ans que nous le possédons, au départ juste pour le côté jour/nuit pour qu'il reste au lit la nuut. facile de programmation, 1reveil lumineux et nous mettons le second 5mn plus tard bip très bruyant (il lui faut ça 😉). Une petite boule mignonne et pratique

Die Lautstärke des Weckers ist sehr angenehm, und vor allem die "Licht-Funktion" zur Aufstehzeit ist hervorragend.Unsre Kleine bleibt zwar nicht immer bis zur Aufstehzeit liegen, findets aber prima selbst zu wissen wann Schlafenszeit bzw. Aufstehzeit ist.
