I have a snowblower carburetor float bowl gasket that is cracked. Hard to find a replacement. Can 518 act as a replacement for the gasket?

No. It's more for metal to metal sealing

Once I have opened it but not used it all, will the remaining amount stay good in the tube with the cap on ready for next time I need it?

Yes it will be fine. As long as it is within or not far out from the date. Store in climate controlled area, around 70 degrees, give or take 10dg.

Do you have to use the loctite primer it mentions on the back of the package?

I've used it successfully without using primer.
