I bought these socks so that I wouldn't have to experience my socks slowly being pulled down as I walk around town in my dress shoes. They're tight enough to keep up all day but not too tight that they are uncomfortable. The biggest drawback is that pants will cling to them slightly, which can give my dress pants an odd look since they don't fall into place when I stand up after having been seated. However, I don't blame the socks for this--it is to be expected when you put one material on top of another that there will be some friction.
