Well written book for electronics guys - Make sure you get the ProTechTrader electronics kit for it
The book was well written, but it is written for someone experianced in the basics of electronics and is not totally for beginners in electronics, more for beginners with radio circuits, theory, HAM & Raspberry Pi microcontroller usage and programming. Built a lot of cool circuits with my man. Radio transmissions, garage door opener circuits, recievers, and my first time programming anything was fun with his help and the electronics kit. The book recommends you get the Make: Radio Electronics kit by ProTechTrader and so do I. Getting all of the components and electronic parts needed for the experiments in the book would have taken a long time and cost a lot more then the electronics kit does. https://www.amazon.com/Make-Electronics-Experiments-Microcontroller-Adaptations/dp/B0D9J65VXC

Excellent intro to radio by experiment
Introduces basic radio concepts by actually building circuits, starting with simple transmitters and growing more complex. Well-written, with good diagrams and photos. Although you will not need an oscilloscope to do the experiments, the book Includes a very informative discussion of them. Also, I highly recommend the supplemental kit of parts supplied by ProTechTraders, available on Amazon.

So far so good
I have not made it very far in this book but I can already tell it will be well worth the money and the challenge that comes with this book! An excellent buy so far!

Must Have for Your Electronics Hobbyist Library
The book is a great addition to any new electronics or radio hobbyist's library...up to date advice, fun experiments and you actually learn from this book. I am a newly licensed radio amateur and I heartily recommend this book.

Okay, Just Not Great
Not on the same level as "Make: Electronics", you get to build several types of projects but the more fun ones, like short wave radio, are very underpowered and require unwieldy antennas and grounding. It was not what I expected which was I could build different types of more complex radio receivers I could deploy in my apartment. I did all the experiments and there are some interesting ones but not on the same level as the other intro electronics books. Its okay, just not great.

Written very good. However, may be a bit difficult for beginners. Sources for components could better. Illustrations assume knowledge of electronics.

This book provides a comprehensive clear guide to low cost ic’s, break out boards and also the Raspberry Pi Pico in radio. Fully functional projects are shown both in schematics and bread board assemblies. Code is provided for each project, where appropriate in the book and also for download on GitHub. Component sources are also suggested. I fully recommend it.

If you are interested in how radio works or you want to get started in amateur radio then this book is for you. Fredrick Jansson has written the best book I have come across that provide the right balance of theory, advice and experimentation to get a novice up and working. Just wish I had this book as a teenager or in college!
