Is the hexagon blade (shaft) removable out of the handle? Can it retract into the handle and function with shorter length? Thanks

This version doesn't have a removable extension. What you see is the whole driver and it won't get any shorter. I believe Wera dose make a ratcheting unit that has a removable shaft but this isn't it.

what is the torque rating? how much can the bits and the ratchet take...

I wouldn't use any ratcheting screwdriver for heavy-duty work, not even my Snap-on ones. For anything requiring a lot of torque, I would much sooner use a conventional screwdriver —or, better yet, a 3/8" ratchet handle with socket screwdriver bits.Anyway, the Wera Kraftform Kompact Ratchetting screwdriver is really only suited for light to medium-duty use.
