amazing book. the first 50-80 pages are a bit confusing, trying to differentiate between the characters and all. but the book becomes very interesting throughout the middle, especially the character’s backgrounds and interests. when secrets unravel and the characters’ developments start to show, it really is interesting. i couldn’t stop reading. i defiantly recommend this book for people who are still trying to get into books.

I love the product's packaging. The book is very good. Has a lot of suspense and great plot twists and engrossing characters even if a bit cliche.

One of Us is Lying follows the gripping story of Bronwyn, Addy, Nate, and Cooper as suspects in the murder of Simon Kelleher. Each of the high school students have secrets that they would do anything to protect, so how far would they go to make sure they're kept out of the spotlight? NO SPOILERS!! The book is by far one of my favorites. I couldn't put it down for even a minute. The writing is so good with a great mix of mystery and drama. I was constantly at the edge of my seat wondering what's going to happen next. The ending had my jaw on the floor, never in a million years would I have guessed that. However the stories written from Addy and cooper's point of view were kinda bland compared to the other two. Never the less, a great read and I definitely recommend. The book was in excellent condition. The font is just right and there is no folding or crumples anywhere. The printing got me a little annoyed since the last words for a few sentences were ending with a hyphen but that's just a "me" thing. Buy it right now!!

The book is good and fresh, it's nothing that we haven't seen before, but still it is very well written and the story in general captivates your attention til the very end.

Mi è piaciuto talmente tanto che non volevo che finisse. È un libro che si legge tutto d’un fiato. Io ho impiegato due giorni proprio perché mi stava piacendo particolarmente, soprattutto per i personaggi, e avevo paura di scoprire chi di loro fosse l’assassino. Con ciò non voglio dire che sia un capolavoro. Anzi, è un romanzo contemporaneo per ragazzi pieno di cliché. Ci sono tutti i tropi più popolari tra i libri, le serie tv e il film per ragazzi, a partire dai personaggi: il cattivo ragazzo incompreso; la brava ragazza con tutti ottimi voti a scuola che poi si scopre non essere così brava; la ragazza popolare che però cerca di liberarsi dalla sua immagine di ragazza perfetta; e il ragazzo popolare, sportivo, bellissimo, campione di baseball. Anche in quanto a trama non è originalissimo. Ricorda molto The Breakfast Club, in cui ragazzi totalmente diversi e senza apparentemente nulla in comune si trovano in detenzione assieme, e alla fine tra loro si sviluppa un legame. Ricorda anche molto Gossip Girl, per via del blog creato da Simon in cui viene svelato ogni segreto all’interno della scuola, e anche Pretty Little Liars per via del mistero dell’omicidio di Simon, fulcro di questo romanzo. Il fatto che si inspira a film ben noti, non l’ho trovato un punto a sfavore. Anzi, la familiarità con film come The Breakfast Club è stato uno dei motivi che mi ha spinto a comprare questo libro. Adoro The Breakfast Club, e il concetto di persone completamente diverse che però si trovano ad interagire tra loro mi è sempre piaciuto. McManus, One of Us Is Lying Anche i personaggi, nonostante partano da cliché ben noti, mi sono davvero piaciuti, e nel corso della storia sono riuscita a legare con ciascuno di loro. Per gli amanti del rosa, c’è anche una storia d’amore secondaria, tra Bronwyn e Nate, che ho amato moltissimo, ed è impossibile non tifare per loro. Rende il libro ancora più scorrevole e veloce da leggere. Loro due sono stati decisamente i miei preferiti nel corso del romanzo. Il personaggio su cui avevo più insicurezze era Cooper, il quale però ha avuto una bella evoluzione psicologica. Un altro dei motivi che mi ha spinto a leggere questo libro è che in molti ne hanno parlato dicendo che il colpevole non è affatto prevedibile. Una delle debolezze dei mistery young adults è la prevedibilità, invece sono molto contenta nel dire che il finale non è stato affatto banale, e il colpevole è stata l’ultima persona a cui avevo pensato. Cercavo un libro con dei bei personaggi, scorrevole, e che mi tenesse sulle spine, senza che avessi idea di come sarebbe potuto finire. E così è stato. Inoltre è stato bello il modo in cui l’autrice ha intrecciato tanti piccoli segreti e rivelazioni al mistero centrale del romanzo, e sono tanti i segreti che i protagonisti del romanzo nascondono, di cui uno in particolare mi ha sorpreso tantissimo, e credo che in pochissimi se lo aspetteranno. Per il resto posso solo dire che One of Us is Lying mi ha intrattenuto moltissimo e lo consiglio vivamente, se siete interessati a questo tipo di letture. È il primo romanzo dell’autrice, e per essere il suo libro di debutto ha fatto davvero un ottimo lavoro, e sono curiosa di leggere altre sue opere in futuro.
