Can I place my 8lbs dog in the bag?

I really like the product and the company stands behind their product as my zipper broke and they offered a refund but I declined and they quickly replaced it. On my mountain bike the bag doesn't sit as securely as it is shown in the ad therefore I don't think it would be conducive to carrying a dog unless the bag attached better with your bike.

Will this work if my brake cable is in the front?

It is suitable for most bicycles, even if the brake cable is in the front, it will not affect its installation.

Can this fit a large drink in the cup holder?

It depends on the size of your drink. It will hold two 16.9 oz bottles of water. The elastic stretches but only to a point. It’s a very handy bag.
