As close to homemade taste as I have found commercially!
This is a favorite food item for me and my dinner guests. It has become an essential part of my antipasto and it is not very often found in my local grocery stores. As an Italian-American, I am very pleased on all levels!

DELICIOUS ANY WAY !!
I purchase a case of CENTO capanatina about once a month. It's a bit pricey, but very good. WOULD BE NICE TO GET A DEAL ON THIS ONCE IN A WHILE. I've eaten it all my life. ( Over 70 years ) great snack for us diabetics too. CENTO is the only one I'll order. PROGRESSO use to make it but can't find it anymore. I'm ordering more this month to have it for holidays. I notice about 85 % (at least ) of the cans have almost NO capers or olive pieces in them. For the price it's pretty disappointing. CENTO.... are you listening. I'll get to a point where I'll just STOP ordering it. It's great right out of the can or you can add it to pasta, salads, whatever. Enjoy !!

DELICIOUS Memories!!
Arrived perfect 12 cans to the box. No sooner delivered, I had it for dinner with Other antipasto meats & cheeses. Cento is a good brand, reminds me of the Progresso brand my Mom would buy when I was a kid.. Out of four children I was the only one that loved caponata! I would come home from school on a day that she did food shopping, she would yell out to me “I bought caponatina! “ Then we would plan which day her and I would sit and have it for lunch on sandwiches! Great memories! Now that I’m older, I usually make my own from scratch. These are handy when I don’t have the time. I wish Cento made a lower sodium version, but easy enough to do when I add more unsalted ingredients to these cans ( pignoli nuts, garbanzos, or cannellini beans.) You can also add more sautéed eggplant, cherry tomatoes , celery & olives if you like. Can heat and serve hot as a side dish or eat cold.

4 stars for the product, 1 star for shipping.
They say smell can trigger memories, but taste does too. I love Caponata. It's a comfort food for this Sicilian. As a kid in Brooklyn, I devoured the little blue Progresso cans from the Bohack. Always looked forward to homemade being served with the holiday antipasto. In those days you could walk into any deli (AKA Salumeria) and easily find this stuff - homemade or canned. I have fond memories entering a deli and seeing all the cheeses hung from the ceiling and neatly stacked Cento (or Pope) canned products on the shelves. Now that I'm living in the South, even the specialty stores such as Whole Foods often don't carry caponta. Always liked the Cento brand: it strikes the right balance of sweet & salty, and "tang". Good mix of the ingredients. My recollection of other brands (i.e. Allesio, Progresso) is they were a little heavier on the capers and olives which is preferable to me, but maybe a little too sweet, which is not. I enjoyed the Cento enough to "Subcribe & Save" it. So the negative? Not sure if this is Cento's, or it's distributor's fault. Getting home delivery seems to be dicey, and varies wildly among the sellers listed above. After 3 consecutive bad shipments of dented and rusty cans, I stopped. Amazon must of been aware of the QC issues, as they no longer offer this as a monthly subscription. These days I'm not a big fan of canned products, and try to avoid purchasing when possible. I'm partial to the Allesio brand (if you can find it) only because it comes in a glass jar. Trader Joe's used to have their own version which was actually quite good. If I can find the Cento brand locally, and hand pick the cans I'd certainly buy them. If they sold Cento in jars, I'd buy it online in nuclear fallout quantities. Current caponata prices here on Amazon are ridiculous, (Caviar is cheaper!), but if you can't find it locally it's the only option.

Melt Cheddar Cheese On Top!
Once cheddar cheese is melted over the top of this appetizer (served hot,) it becomes a real treat. Without the cheese, it's a bit lackluster. If you've tried it and wondered what's missing -- it's the cheese.
