The board is ok but the chess pieces are extremely light.

I really wasn't sure WHAT to expect when I ordered this chess set for my daughter's Christmas Present, but the construction on this is GORGEOUS. (I even bought the set as "used" not thinking that I would get a quality piece, but nope, when I opened it and saw that it was practically brand new, I was beside myself!) The board had no scuff marks, and the 2 hinges set flat on the table, the boards aligned perfectly, the chess pieces had perfect felt bottoms. It was amazing. I did have to rearrange the pieces inside so that the set would close correctly with the extra queens, but that is hardly a complaint. I am VERY happy. This was extremely affordable, I still can't believe I got such a nice set for only $25!

After reading the original review, the seller contacted me and worked with me to find an acceptable outcome. I now have a new chessboard that does not have any of the issues that I identified in the original review. I like that the files and ranks are lettered/numbered, the prices are a nice size and the elastic system to store the pieces works very well. This board now stays in my living room and the old board is now with my travel gear so I can take it with the family on the road. Top-notch customer service, I'll also be leaving a positive review for the seller. ============== Original Review ================= I purchased this for $60 thinking it was a premium chess set; it was not. While it is functional here are my issues: 1) Hinges are not on property and as a result, the board doesn't open to be fully flat 2) There is what can best be described as "debris" under the varnish on both the pieces and the board. These are little bits of dirt, plastic, sawdust etc that are tactile bumps all over the pieces that the lacquer is over top of. There is also a yellow stain on the board from something. 3) The lacquer on the board is already dulling, we've played maybe 10 games and the sheen is already uneven and the areas look dull. 4) there are multiple holes in the surface 5) The felt on the bottom of the pieces was not flat, I had to remove and re-glue it on pieces. 6) This is minor, but if I was giving it as a gift, the box it came in was thin and flimsy enough that the shipping inside another box had damaged it, making it look like a used product.
