The Speed changed my computing life
After upgrading my laptop with the Samsung 980 Pro SSD NVMe, I can confidently say this might be the single best upgrade I've ever made to any computer I've owned. From the moment I installed this sleek piece of technology, the difference was jaw-dropping. My laptop now boots in seconds - I barely have time to take a sip of coffee before I'm staring at my desktop. Applications that used to lumber along now spring to life instantly. Even massive photo editing projects and video renders that once had me walking away from my computer now complete in a fraction of the time. The 980 Pro's PCIe 4.0 interface delivers blistering speeds that you can actually feel in everyday use. Sequential read speeds are phenomenal, making file transfers feel almost instantaneous. What impressed me beyond the raw speed is the reliability. After several months of heavy daily use, performance remains consistent with zero hiccups. The drive runs cool even during intensive tasks, which gives me confidence in its longevity. Installation was straightforward, though if you're new to upgrading storage, you might want to watch a quick tutorial. The slim form factor fit perfectly in my laptop without any clearance issues. Yes, you might pay a premium compared to budget NVMe options, but the performance-to-price ratio is absolutely justified. This isn't just marginally better than previous generation SSDs - it's a transformative upgrade that makes your entire computing experience more enjoyable. If you spend significant time on your laptop and find yourself waiting for programs to load or files to transfer, do yourself a favor and invest in the Samsung 980 Pro. Your future self will thank you every single day.

Very easy and simple installation process and packaged properly in box
This was my first time ordering and buying any type of product online through Amazons website and the process was very easy and simple to do. Plus I enjoyed the experience searching for the specific product I needed in order to increase my overall storage space capacity in my Sony Playstation 5. I was able to order it easily as well as received my Samsung M.2 Internal SSD earlier than expected right at my front door of my home. It was sealed and in the bag securely and safely. Then the process of installing it was even easier and simpler to do with the guide on how to install this electronic device in my PS5 although I watched some YouTube videos on the way exactly to install my Samsung Solid State Drive which only took a couple of minutes to complete and finish. Then I was able to program and format it on my PS5 drive easily without any problems or issues. Overall, the experience and process was very effective and smooth. I definitely got my moneys worth and very high value in total! If anyone needs an SSD for their PS5 console, I highly recommend this one to be exact. The Samsung 980 Pro with heatsink and 2 TB of storage space as it runs properly and efficiently in order to increase their storage space and provide more functionality overall as well in terms of speed with less loading times on screen during gameplay for any videogame. It is an awesome product and worth the price I paid for it on Amazon Prime Day sale which was $156.79 exactly including shipping costs and other expenses to get it delivered from the US to Canada as it was cheaper and lower price!

Solid as a rock - works great.
I was surprised to read some of the reviews on this ... Samsung is normally solid as a rock. I've used it routinely for my PC's, I didn't even think twice about it. When I went to write this review - that's when I saw others with negative reviews about it. I read about the firmware failures. I'm not sure what years those were made... because I just did a review on every 970/980 SSD I own... none of them had bad firmware on it. If you're using something like "Driver Easy" or whatnot to ensure you're always running the latest drivers on the PC - it's not an issue I think. It wasn't for me. Every drive was already running the latest firmware and I've been buying 970 and 980 drives since 2019. In my experience, the NVME drives from Samsung are solid as a rock and perform flawlessly. That's been the case with this one for my PS5. I put it in this past weekend and it fired up without issue. I didn't even look at the year or place of origin for manufacture. It just struck me like every other 980 drive I've ever purchased except this one has a nice little aluminum/zinc heat sink on it that is Samsung branded (more on the heat sink in a minute - I'm not sure exactly what it does.) It went in without a hiccup. Granted - you have to know what you're doing - but if you've built a PC before or have any kind of clue, this won't be hard. Pop a side off, get out a screwdriver for PC builds, pop the expansion slot open, slot it, put it down again (there is a screw and a spacer in the PS5 already but you will need to move the post from the five to the three inch marker), and then close her up. Truly easy... takes like 10 minutes if you have a clue. The heatsink is low form factor/profile - so it fits like a glove. It's not entirely clear to me how or why the heatsink is necessary. There's no circulation in the little bay that the chip sits in - so it's not clear to me how heat is being dissipated. Moreover, you don't put any kind of thermal paste on anything, nor use a heat transfer foam liner like you will on some installs where there is a metal casing (like on a GPU). That said - everyone makes a BFD about having a heat sink because God forbid you don't have one - the PS5 will explode or something... doubtful... but ok. So anyways... it slots right in, and you close up the lid on it, and it's sitting in there happy as a clam. I honestly don't know what the heat sink does. My SSD's on my PC don't have a heatsink and they rarely go above 45C or so... given the throttling happens at 80 degrees... I'd think you'd see case deformation on that PS5 case before you'd see your SSD smoking fire inside the little sealed area. And again, with that heat sink on - but no vent - not sure to me where the hell the heat is going other than into the sink which I suspect you're just relying on the laws of thermodynamics to keep the chip at like 50-60 degrees C... because there is no venting. I fired mine up with zero difficulties after install. In terms of performance - there is no measurable performance between the NVME and the onboard memory on the console - which I suspect is probably also a Samsung NVME card. Speed and transfer seem comparable to onboard... and I even sent files back and forth between the SSD and the console memory... no hiccups. In short - 179 bucks for 2TB. Buy it. 10 minutes after opening the package... you'll have triple the memory you have on your machine right now. I mean it's a no-brainer...

FAST
I purchased the Samsung 980 Pro NVMe SSD and installed it in my desktop computer to replace an older and smaller SSD that was holding my Windows 10 operating system. The unit arrived quickly, undamaged, in new, pristine packaging. Installation was a snap on my MSI B550 Mag Tomahawk motherboard. I flashed the mobo bios to insure the latest updates, though it wasn't necessary in my case. The drive was recognized immediately by Windows. The included Samsung Magician software was a breeze to use and quickly migrated my operating system and data to the new SSD. That was 3 weeks ago, and my system is running flawlessly. This drive is FAST. Using CrystalDiskmark, my original Samsung 256Gb SSD spec'ed out at 554 Mb/sec Read, 530 Mb/sec write speeds. The new drive registers 3510 Mb/sec read, 3524 Mb/sec write speeds. Keep in mind, that is only at PCIe Gen 3, because my motherboard doesn't support Gen 4 (which this SSD does). When I upgrade my motherboard to a newer version that supports Gen 4, I fully expect those speeds to double. Win 10 loads quickly and seamlessly, and overall operation of my machine has been flawless. I do a lot of gaming, and I intend to migrate my game installs to this drive in the near future. I'll update this review if I notice any significant changes. I paid $99 for this drive in April, 2024, and I consider it money well spent. I have 4x the storage space on my system drive now, and it's much faster. If you're considering purchasing this drive, I don't think you will go wrong. One additional note: The drive I purchased has an installed heatsink, so I was unable to install the heatsink that came with my motherboard. Not a big deal, the installed heatsink works well and the system stays cool. If your motherboard has an installed M.2 heatsink, purchase the version without heatsink.
