The sweetener used in this bar has a very strong alcohol taste and we did like it.

I bought a box, but my granddaughter ate all but one! Which was good. I will order more soon

Metagenics Ultra Protein Bar - Meal Replacement Bar - Fitness Bar - With Fiber, Iron & Calcium - Peanut Butter - 12 Bars As mentioned in the title, the bars flavor (Peanut Butter) taste a bit more like salted caramel and dark chocolate. I feel like there is a lot of confusion in the flavors while leaving a bitter chemical after-taste in the mouth. It has added sugars mixed with sweeteners, plus salt... just too much stuff impacting the flavor. Not much peanut butter flavors. In this age of organic and plant-based "clean" ingredients, this one missed the mark with a lot of ingredients that probably needed not be included. Protein (19g) to calories (260 cals) ratio per bar is a little lower than some "cleaner" bars, not high enough high-quality calories to be a "meal-replacement" bar... and it's definitely overpriced. Cannot recommend this for flavor, ingredients quality nor price.

Metagenics Ultra Protein Bar in Peanut Butter Taste & Texture: This bar has a chewy cookie-dough texture. It has a delicious dark chocolate peanut butter taste. The bar is not overly sweet, but I would prefer even less sweetness. This bar has a chocolate coating, so I would hesitate to take it with me on-the-go in hot weather. Fiber: This bar is high fiber (8g, or 29% RDA). Most of the fiber is from Chicory Root Fiber. Protein: This bar is also high protein (19g, or 38% RDA). Personally I do not go by the RDA for my protein goals, as protein needs can vary by many factors, including age. Protein-based item in the ingredients list include Partially Hydrolyzed Milk Protein Isolate, Peanut Butter, and Whey Protein Crisps. Sweetener: This bar is not sugar-free, but has a reasonably low amount of added sugar (4g, or 8%). It contains inulin (both a soluble fiber and a mild sweetener), cane sugar, and rebaudioside A (stevia leaf extract). Recommendation: I enjoy the taste of this bar and would recommend to someone looking to boost their protein and fiber. SELLER NEEDS TO CLARIFY PHOTOS/LISTING: A photo in the Amazon states that this bar has 20g of Whey/Soy protein. Perhaps this need to be updated, because the packaging says 19g, and I do not see Soy protein in the ingredients.

A few years ago, I gave up fast food and junk food, and started incorporating protein bars into my routine. Paired with exercise and calorie tracking, I ended up losing a total of 30 lbs. It definitely takes some time to get used to the taste of these bars—some of them honestly aren’t great—but this particular one is the best tasting in the entire lineup, in my opinion. My old favorite used to be the Snickerdoodle bar, but unfortunately, it’s been discontinued. I also liked the Lemon bar at one point, but it seems they’ve changed the recipe. The newer version has a darker interior and now has an unpleasant, chemical-like taste. That leaves this Metagenics Ultra Protein Bar as the only one I actually enjoy, but thankfully, it's pretty good. As long as I have a box of these on hand, I can stay on track and avoid junk food without feeling deprived.
