Rock-N-Roller RSD14 Solid Deck System (for R14 and R18 Multi-Carts)

I almost sent it back. It's a big, clunky thing just laying about. I screwed it togetherand went to lay on the pegs that screw into the insides of the upright handles.It don't fit. WTF?? Tried to make it ride on top. Nope. Tried wangdangling it in every conceivableangle and approach. I was getting it ready to return, flipped it over to start unscrewing the hardwarethat connects the panels to the frame. The lights from in high shone upon me and I realized there were "slots" in the metal tubes whence the screws came through!!! Pressing the rails "in" to the center made the width the perfect width to lay upon the pegs!! Even spread them out a bit to get a tighter fit. ta dah!! Instruction manuals used to be so cool!! This thing didn't come with one.

The best news I can give you is that this thing actually made a rock solid stand for my MOXF8 weighted keyboard. I just needed a add a block of wood under one side to make a perfect stand. My Nord Electro 73 fits on it even easier on my G11 RackNRoll.The bad news is that this thing seems like it was almost produced in somebody's garage...kind of surprised at the wood cuts..but on the other hand, I could never have made this thing myself. It's heavy and adds one more bulky thing to the pile of stuff you carry to a gig...I'm not sure that I will use it forever, but I am very satisfied, just don't expect a nice piece of furniture...

Its somewhat a shame that Rock N Roller's system is so handy and versatile, because its why I keep putting up with their crappy QC and mfg tolerances.Every item I have ever bought from Rock N Roller through ANY outlet, comes in a MINT box with no damage, and requires an hour of tweaking to make it fit or work. This shelf was no exception. It had two bent "C" ends that I had to bend back out to fit around the handle on my R10. I had to loosen EVERY SINGLE NUT on the rails, and assemble it on my cart then retighten so it would line up enough the male and female rail ends from each half of shelf would go together (they werent even close to fitting in each other out of the box.). The carpet is not glued down to the boards like my lower deck panels is, and even just pulling it tight before stapling was too much to ask. I can run my hand along it and make it ripple.I could go on all day about how I had the same problems with my R10 cart, lower deck etc, BUT this thing saves me so much effort moving gear on photoshoots, I put up with it. At least it isnt expensive.

the new mounting hdw. makes setup and teardown quick and painless, not the juggling act employed when using previous models...just a 10 min. adjustment for the 1st mount out of the box, and should be good after that...the mounting pegs can stay installed and the handles will fold down perfectly flat with them intact...you might want to keep the provided allen wrenches handy, because I suspect you'll need to do a bit of tightening once in a while...the addition of a few lock washers and replacing the nuts with lock nuts would be a worthwhile improvement and eliminate the need for this, but I suspect it will work fine with OEM parts and a periodic inspection/ tightening...The board itself is not carpeted, but painted with a sort of textured paint, it doesn't feel like things will slip easily...I plan to use only the shorter single version, but when hooked together into the long version (yes, it comes with BOTH pieces), feels sturdy enough to use as a working platform...I'm happy with it, and if I develop problems I'll amend this review.

This could be a radically better design with little added production cost. Just a little more thought, care and effort would do the trick I suspect.Ie the smaller shelf could be about a 1/4” more narrow allowing it to fit between the support brackets of the larger shelf for packing in storage.Cotter pins rather than wing nuts n screws. Telescoping (this would add production cost) support brackets allowing the cart to do so as deigned. The shelf could remain the same size but the open space would be great for stands etc.Overall pretty disappointing but also fairly cheap.

Wiggles a lot. Great idea just needs 2 holes on each corner to make it sturdy.

I has my rock roller for year's. It was so old that I had to drill the holes for this. But wow! It's a whole new tool. With the old tool still available. I also bought the bottom boards and it's awesome! Yes you may have to tweak it a bit. So what!

I bought this “used” here on Amazon, and was very reluctant to do so.. but, it’s perfect! Looks like new! Very happy with this choice! Also, it’s perfect for my cart.. I already have one on one side that I was using for cable management, and now I’m adding this one so that I can hang my director’s chair on it for company moves. Really cool, sturdy product!

good but you could make one with the right brackets. It's not that well made with the carpet stapled to the wood

This shelf fits easily into the R12 and is covered with a nonslip carpet material. Creates good storage area for camera equipment while the trolley is in use as a tethering station.

Received item incomplete. Package came and top was dismantled and missing 4lug nuts and falling apart. Crap!
