These balls are perfect for my rat terrier. She is a manic ball player. Not always so great about giving the ball back at times, especially if she wants just to chew on the ball for a while. We go through the other kinds of balls pretty quickly, because she’s got the jaws of a bulldog. Especially the lovely, soft squeaky balls. I’ve never ever considered getting her a tennis ball. And even though she has a couple of stuffed toys she keeps either in her bed or upstairs in our bedroom, they’ve all been eviscerated. It’s not so easy to sweep up that white fuzzy stuff they’re filled with, either. But the only damage I’ve seen happen to these balls is if they’ve been left out inside some foliage over a winter or two. Then they get black with mold and the rubber is a little stiff. I’ve tried cleaning them out (yucky stuff can get in through the holes) and bleaching them, but they’re still not the prettiest balls in her collection. I try to rescue her balls from outdoors every few weeks, but there are always a couple I miss. The small balls are perfect for her. She can catch any ball thrown, but the small balls are really the onky ones she can snatch out of the air. They say practice makes perfect. She must be perfectly good at catching them then. And the throwing device the company sells might not come in small, because I’ve never seen it. So we throw the ball while holding another balk. Then, because she sees the other ball, we don’t have to try to catch her (did I mention she’s part Italian greyhound?). If we don’t have an extra ball to tempt her with, by the time she lets us get close to her she plays “Oh you want the ball, do you? Here it is … Gotcha! Try to get it again” She gets a lot of fun out of life.
