Great to know of a pilot in person!
I had the honor and privilege OF knowing Col. Ray L'Heureux, as I had the utmost respect of working on Quantico Marine Base where the chow hall that I worked at is next to the hanger where the presidential fleets were housed in. Every morning, I would see Col L'Heureux came in for chow talking with his other colleagues, and what I mean by colleagues is his co-pilot, crew chief, as he mentions in his book. What was even more amazing is that, he, with his other colleagues would address me by my name saying "Good morning ____". Have I bored you enough? LOL! Col. L'Heureax, I liked how you took me through your childhood into your adult life.I'll always remember you! Semper Fideles!

I really enjoyed reading this
Col L'Heureux presented his material in a very clear and sequential story from his early days to his selection to pilot Marine One the carries the President. It is an honest and indepth book with lots of personal experiences flying Marine One. I really enjoyed reading this book

Great picture of Marine One and those who flew them
and the presidents they served. As a Marine officer I learned a lot about just how they operated. And the men they served. I especially loved learning about the friendship of a Marine colonel and President George W. Bush. It told about devotion of the pilot who supported him and the kindness and humor of a president and his family. Agree with his politics or not, George W. Bush is a real man and someone I would be proud to know and serve. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about Marine One and how it operates.

No technical info on Marine One
Great autobiography of Ray L'Heureux, but no technical details of Marine One which is why I bought the book.

It could have been priceless.
This could have been a great book, but it wasn't, and i don't recommend you wasting your money on it. This book was tough to get through because it was so boring. Now maybe thats a good thing, because if the Colonel's helicopter had been attacked, or if it crashed it could have been devastating for our nation. But the book just dragged on until the parts concerning the Colonel's relationship with President Bush the second. The interaction btwn the President and his pilot was very moving. If the book had been solely about President Bush and the Colonel, it would have been very enjoyable and insightful. But it wasn't, and thats why I can't recommend this book to anyone, unless u can borrow it from someone for free.

Fantastic and unique story. Well told.
Thoroughly enjoyable read. As an American history buff I enjoyed this book immensely- only problem was it was too short. The author tells his unique story - enlisting in the marines and then rising up the ranks to the colonel of HMX-1. The only problem with the book is that it's too short! I could have read it over and over again.

Highly informative. Of special interest is the personal bond that develops between the pilots of Marine One and the presidents they carry--for decades without a single mishap.
