This is a very sleek scale, the display is hidden till you step on the scale. Unlike my old Thinner scale, you just step on the scale and it begins displaying your weight immediately. I had to tap my old scale to get it to turn on, let it zero, then get on. Withe the Greater Goods Balance model, as soon as you step on, the display reveals itself as it lights up brightly, and displays how much you weigh immediately. After a few seconds of standing still, it will hold your weight. So, really I don't love it since it shows me how overweight I am, but that is the scales job. Accuracy is pretty good, +/- 2-lbs of the thinner model - which one is right? Who knows, probably has to do with the tiles in my bathroom not being perfectly level. But they are both within a couple pounds of what my doctor records me at before she tells me to loose weight. The big selling points for this scale are: 1) The balance of price and quality. I have a few items from Greater Goods - kitchen scales, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers - and they are all well built devices that were low cost. 2) Design - this scale LOOKS good. It looks modern, high tech, and high quality. If you care about that, this should sell it for you. 3) The display - it's very large, it's got a great backlight so it's easy to read, and when it turns off, it's hidden.

I love this scale for the price, the display, and the looks. I have had no problems with weighing myself (and I'm NOT light, so I am glad this thing even registers me) and it seems reasonably accurate. I tested it by weighing myself and then picking up a known weight to see if it registered accurately and it was a bit off (by .2 lbs., and when weighing that item on another scale (a food scale, it was only a 2 lb. block of clay) the food scale registered the clay at 2 lbs. .6 oz., so it was off by a couple oz. but probably close, as long as the food scale was accurate), but that is such a minor weight difference that I consider it reasonably accurate for the price. I'll take a star off the accuracy, but it is barely noticeable so your mileage may vary. I have read other reviews about it going wonky after a few months and I've only had it a month and a half so if something happens I'll amend this, but for now it's good. The scale looks very good. I got the black one because I like how inconspicuous and clean it looks. The display is large and easy to read and I love that it is backlit instead of just some black LCD numbers on a gray background. Lastly, I liked the price. I paid 30 bucks for a scale at Walmart which was a gigantic piece of trash that barely ever registered a weight, instead of displaying an error message and this is 10 dollars cheaper and has worked for longer than that POS ever did. They say you get what you pay for, but so far I've gotten a nice-looking, relatively accurate scale for under 20 bucks, so I'd say I'm ahead.

These scales are outstanding, the first scales I have ever had that I couldn't find anything to criticize. It is very attractive but, more important, easy to use. The readout is very easy to read with a bright large display. The display is also very large with approximately one and one half inch digits for the weight which displays to the nearest tenth of a pound. As to accuracy, I compared these scales with my doctors scales. There was very little variance. They do not have such "features" as memory of weights and such which I find useless. They only provide your current weight accurately and easy to read. I strongly recommend purchase of these scales for anyone in the market. I forgot to add: If you get variable readouts, make sure your scales (or any bathroom scales) are on a solid floor; not on a carpet or any soft surface. This causes any such scales to vary in output. On a solid floor, mine never vary more than a few tenths of a pound. On a soft floor, I get large changes.

After reading the other reviews, I was pretty skeptical buying this scale, but I desperately needed a new one since I felt my old one was inaccurate. Just looking at this one, I love the sleek design! It definitely doesn’t scream “scale” when you place it in a room. I first placed it in my bathroom like my old scale, but my first hop on it gave me a reading that was around 10 pounds heavier than what my old scale gave me. I was not happy. I do agree that the scale holds a memory of weight for a few minutes so these trials of weighing myself lasted pretty much all day, trying to figure out if I just purchased a piece of crap or not. After moving the scale to a more sturdy and even surface in my bedroom, I then realized I could just weigh my two 10-pound dumbbells. 20.2 pounds. Pretty accurate. So my old scale was just lying to me all this time and after I got over the initial shock of being 10 pounds heavier than I thought I was, I became pleased with my purchase! Considering other reviews cite the scale’s inaccuracy, I would definitely suggest placing it on a flat and even surface and keeping still while you weigh yourself. I’ve had it for around two weeks now and I weigh myself every day at the same time, getting consistently accurate results each time. Worth the money!

TL;DR: Fairly good basic scale, especially considering how cheap it is. Probably worth the money for everyday needs. I bought this scale with the intention of using it to help keep track of my weight loss and make sure I was staying on goal. I didn't need anything fancy that could send stats to my computer or anything, just wanted something I could step on, it would tell me my weight, and I could move on with my day. So here's my impressions of it. The Good: - Basic, sleek design. I wanted something simple and that's what I got. It's all black on top, except for the little brand name at the bottom, and you can't even tell where the screen is unless you step on it. I really like it, and it looks good in my bathroom. - Quick results. When you step on the scale, it takes a few seconds, but it'll stop bouncing around and flash the final weight at you fairly quickly. - (Fairly) Consistent. I tested it by stepping on, letting it determine my weight, and stepping off before getting back on. When I did that, it seemed to remember the previous weight and just went straight to the same number, so I tested it by grabbing something I knew weighed ~4lbs and alternating between stepping on with and without it in my hands. The scale seemed to do well with that and registered the changes while still maintaining a fairly consistent weight. It did fluctuate a little (no more than +/- 0.2 lbs), but not so much that I think it was a problem. The Bad: - Often times I would step on the scale and the weight it showed would bounce around quite a bit before settling on the right number, sometimes right at the last minute. Not really a problem if you're patient, but still something to be aware of. - Any kind of slope/softer surface will make it much less consistent. Not usually a problem in bathrooms, but something to keep in mind. Overall, I think this scale serves its purpose as a basic bathroom scale. It won't do anything fancy for you, but when all you need to know is your weight, then it should serve you well. Also, the scale came with some cute temporary tattoos for no particular reason, but that was a fun surprise when I opened the box.
