This is 16 awg wire... And no, it is not going to ever get too hot if you use the Battery Tender charger with it... The Battery Tender is a trickle charger, and they do not ever get so hot that it is even close to dangerous.. The Battery Tender will slowly charge the battery up; it may take hours; and then it will shut off and turn on again if it senses the battery voltage dropping off... I have had several for around 15 years and they are on my cars 24/7. and never once had a problem with the wiring or the Battery Tender itself... They make the connections so they are foolproof and will not accidently short anything out, either... You want these if you want to keep your Battery/s charged - especially in Winter... Just get the longer extension cables and you can have the charger inside the garage and just the wires going out to the vehicle if it's outside... I never have dead batteries since I started using Battery Tenders...

I don't know your batteries side terminals bolt diameter. I am not around the item in question, but I would guess the inside diameter is 4mm. other than that it would work great. I think mine came with a 10amp fuse. Its pretty heavy wire so you could go bigger with the fuse if you have to. Mine has worked well with my 12 volt motorcycle battery.Hope this helps.
